Leave AA for Fedex?

For the most part. I like JFK terminal 4. Terminal 2? Not nearly as much

I was going to say, you don't get out too much, although your operation is more a northeast thing. Los Angeles sucks (although SJI has reasonably nice digs there; my opinion is probably biased due to (1) being based there and (2) parking in the low-rent district that is Terminal 8) San Francisco T3 needs attention too. Badly.

"We are building a WORLD CLASS airport for Los Angeles!"

Right.

That's no joke. I can only speak of the DHL CVG hub, but it's much nicer than hanging around a passenger terminal. Bunk rooms, cafeteria, etc. Most of all, mellow and quiet.
Our quiet room in LAX is not a quiet room. If the mailboxes are there, it's not a quiet room.

The TBIT is very nice now. I think that's what LAWA is riding on when the say "world class".

And as I said, I think long term fedex will continue to be more and more profitable. I think part of that will involve automated aircraft. And I think it will happen in the cargo industry long before it happens in the passenger industry. Is fedex a smart move in the next 10 years? Probably. But factor in the fact that the OP has 3 years seniority, will retire 5 from the top, and I think long term (longer than 10 years) AAG is a safer bet. But FedEx surely is tempting.
If automated aircraft ever come to fruition I don't think the cargo carriers will be the only places affected. I'm much more worried about the general future for US airlines and the horrible management team at AA. The only thing Parker seems to be worried about is outsourcing and making the stock price higher.

Even that really isn't happening these days. How long has the stock price been hovering in the $35-$45 range? Seems like it's been on a downward trend since this time last year.

Ahh yes, the SJI SJS.

You fail to mention that Terminal 8 in LAX is going through a half billion dollar renovation and that there have been improvements in the SFO terminal situation for that large airline you fly feed for.

Thank goodness, although nothing short of lots of bulldozers will make the land-side/central terminal area in LAX "not a disaster."

@Autothrust Blue how conflicted will you be flying the CRJ which you hate, but in the SJI colors you worship?
You do remember being a regional copilot, right?

I'm stoked to have the chance to do something different, in a new place, making more money. There are a LOT of reasons why I'm exceedingly happy to try my hand at being a CRJ Captain. Without airing too much in the way of the details of my life, this couldn't have happened at a better time.

Edit: The fact that it'll be largely Southernjets Innanashunul-Connection flying, even to such exotic locales as Bemi...however you spell/say that...is also welcome.

I wouldn't go to Fedex unless you KNOW you could deal with five "days" in a row of hard core night flying. Think show on the west coast at 7pm to MEM, sit for 3 hours, and then at least one leg out of the sort. 10 hours on duty. That's about as bad as it gets. 117 would make it a little better but that's not a player at the moment. Living in base would give you more options as would some seniority. Living in base you could do reserve (work half the time at most) or do short block flying that is better flying but not commutable. I think the most miserable folks I've seen are the ones that commute and are "forced" into week on, week off, night flying. If you're the kind of guy that can sleep anytime and it's no big deal then you'd be okay. I was never like that and the older I get the harder it gets. Luckily, I'm the energizer bunny and do well on less sleep than most. I also bypassed upgrades for years to maintain my seniority so I could avoid the worst of the worst. I've had a great career and am quite happy I ended up in the freight biz. It suits me. I'm the polar opposite of Derg, I think.

Alright man, now I gotta ask. Why so butthurt? It feels like you're thinking it's always the night before the big homecoming game but with airlines instead of football teams.

Or like the night before the big NIFA competition and Riddle and UND are vying for the #1 spot in Aircraft Identification.

Oh yeah, do I ever. Remember, no FA, autopilot, bathroom, APU, etc. :)

Good. I know I enjoyed putting down TPIC on the applications and I know you will (rightfully) as well.

Finally, I learned a lot when I first upgraded. With me, it put a lot of things in perspective of what was important and what wasn't when I was signing the release.

KDA BABY! KDA!

Just kidding, just kidding, you'll better get a kick ass contract soon. I am NOT happy with that BS with the deadheading policy change at your place, then with our snap up language.

Not butt hurt at all, glad folks are moving onward, upward, and outward to new positions and companies.

He even said it himself :) ...

Glad folks are getting to experience new things that should help them.
