AAG Wholly Owned Bonuses

No need to pay retention bonuses to Captains, because the last thing you want as a First Officer is for Captains to stay. You want them to move on so you can move up. It's better for you. It's better for them. It's better for everyone
The biggest problem is the temporary nature of what they were offering. It only lasts for 2 years and then FOs will be back to their terrible pay rates. ~$24/hr first year. They need to offer a more permanent solution in the form of higher pay rates.

Other regionals increased FO pay and are doing better at hiring as a result.

My guess is that they hope their cadet program somehow works this time (it didn't work at Envoy). The bonus would last long enough for cadets to start showing up for training and management would get a pay reset.

The MEC said that they would sign it, if the company gave up other concessions.

The company has agreed to commuter hotels, as well as a few other things that are being ironed out now.

How bout' higher wages, and the end of that atrocious pay freeze on the FO side after four years.

That would be great, but we all know that AAG will never give that up. Not until they are cancelling large numbers of flights due to no pilots.

Take all that you can when you can, and then keep fighting for more.

We are to the point where mainline planes are flying extra flights because of staffing problems at express. So forgive me if I don't celebrate a temporary bonus aimed at retaining the flying at express.

This little bit of money isn't going to retain any FOs. They can still make more by going just about anywhere else, and FOs will continue to leave at a good pace. The flow is just too far out of reach to anyone that was hired in the last 2 years. It is still 10+ years away for people that have been on property for 2 years.

Upgrade times are not nearly as fast as they were. FOs hired today will not upgrade for close to 3.5 years unless something changes. No one expects the 700s to come over from Envoy, and once we receive the last few 900s, growth will have stopped.

The only consolation I have is that ALL 3 of the AAG wholly owneds are having a hard time hiring. PDT can't seem to grow to over 450 pilots, EVY has a purported 2 new hires confirmed for May, and we can barely hire to cover attrition. Doug Parker is going to have to do more if he wants to staff his regionals. That much has become readily apparent.

How about instead of worrying about how to staff the regionals, we stop growing the regionals and return the flying to mainline.

For once, I would be extremely happy to copy what Delta is doing.
