Agree, it does happen. The range tower hit by the F/A-18 in the famous Vieques range incident. The school strafed by the D.C. ANG F-16 that was in the pattern at the Warren Grove range.

In all seriousness Shack is actually a radio brevity call for direct hit with target effects. I.e. Bomb on tank... Tank now upside down on fire with pink paste leaking out of it.

A "shack" is a direct hit.

Comes from old early-days-of-military-flying colloquial sayings about being so accurate with your bombing that you could hit an outhouse (e.g. a "shack").

Same idea about where the term "pickle button" (the red button on the stick you press to release the bomb) comes from; the saying that the Norden bomb sight from WWII was so accurate, it could put a bomb into a pickle barrel from 20,000 feet.
