B-52 Park at MCO. The McCoy of MCO! Know your history, kids!

(Also, escaping Ohio for a short time while a good friend gets her wings at B6 as an F/A....)

5 years ago I came on here as a clueless high school senior that thought he had everything figured out (I mean, I probably did) and was asking for advice on college/flight training. I was pretty set on going to a large collegiate aviation program and spending a ton of money flying new airplanes with G1000s and graduating with a 4 year degree and a commercial license. Thank god you all talked me out of it and convinced me to save money and go to an in-state school, get a degree in something else, and do all my ratings on the side. Took the advice, lived at home the first 3 years of school, got a job at the airport throwing bags, worked my ass off all day and flew cheap planes that barely started in the middle of the night. Was able to pay for both my degree and all my training thus far up front in cash I've saved up from working and now am less than a month away from having my diploma as well as just having the commercial written and dual requirements standing between me and my CSEL. Yeah, I won't graduate with my CMEL/CFI/MEI/whatever, but I've gotten to do a ton of cool flying that I know I wouldn't have been able to do at a large pt.141 school and have made a ton of connections in the industry by just hanging out at my pt.61 school as well as working for an airline that definitely wouldn't be in the picture had I gone the other route. Oh, and going to college at an SEC school was fun too.

tl;dr without you all telling me to get my head out of my ass 5 years ago, I'd probably be sitting here a month away from graduating college with a commercial license and $200k in debt, but instead I'm sitting here a month away from graduating with (almost.. knock on wood) a commercial license and actually have a net worth of something more than a 30 pack of top ramen.

Pic was taken last week after 1.9 in the books that put me over the 250TT mark!
