Have you been offered an interview based upon attendance of a job fair?

Edited to add:
I applied 4 days before the job fair, offered an interview the next business day (after the job fair.)

Of the 7 people I was with at the latest NGPA job fair, none of us have been called for an interview.

I have received 3 interview invites relatively soon after attending various job fairs. At one I was told I would receive the 'long app' during my interaction with the recruiter.

"As long as these job fairs are filled with rooms of qualified applicants like yourselves, there is no pilot shortage."

~American Recruiter at NGPA~
There is no pilot shortage at X dollars. Whereas American pays >=X. There seems to be a pilot shortage at <X.

At some point smaller parts of aviation might be able to put their competition out of business by raising wages. Simply hire all the pilots directly from the competition. Make them park their airplanes.

So many factors at play here. Depends on the airline, depends on the candidate. Sometimes it helps, many times it doesn't. Most of the time it doesn't hurt.

For me, I've been to two job fairs and received zero interview invites based on who I saw at those fairs.

If I ran a 135 that's what I'd be doing right now...jacking my pilot comp package so high that my competition didn't have a chance. Except, we already have more business lined up than we can handle this summer and our only remaining competition seems to be running themselves into the ground...

Job fair on a Thursday, interview invite the following Tuesday. (AeroCrew)
Job fair August, interview invite in October. (OBAP)
FWIW I had apps on file for years at both companies who called, and I did get a new and better job.

I know how people feel about job fairs, and I get it, but for me it's paid off. If nothing had resulted from either event, it still would have been worth it as I got the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones.

Way better networking opportunities at the bar that evening.

But a lot of people even use that the wrong way as well. Just because you may have the attention of a recruiter doesn't mean "I can haz job nao".

Top tier carriers, it can help.

Mid tier carriers, it's a huge help.

If you're looking for a regional job, tell them to send the shuttle for you when you arrive at the airport.

Went to NGPA this year on a Sunday, email for interview the following Wednesday. This was job fair number 4 for me, and the first one that led to an interview.

Got an interview and job offer from this year's WAI. Had an app in for about six months. From speaking to a recruiter to interview to conditional job offer was 15 days. Now it looks like I'll be part of the Eskimo family. Had I not gone to the job fair, none of that would have happened.

That's a great philosophy. Right up to the point the rooms are no longer filled.
Correct. Pretty arrogant statement if you ask me. He has got to realize that as soon as he's done dispensing hot air the same group of guys are gonna fill the next room over.
