Back in the late 1980's?or early 90's my dad was part of an American crew on a private 727 that went into Saigon. They were told they were the first N registered airplane to go there after the war. They were flying Japanese hotel people that were looking at building a hotel there. The passengers were spending the night and the crew would not stay so they flew the airplane to Guam if I remember right. They went back later and did spend the night and said it was quite nice.
Around the same time they went to Thailand when Air America was being filmed and ran in the pilots for the movie. The movie pilots offered the my dad's crew to fly on one of the their flights but my dad's crew was scheduled to fly out that day and had to pass.

Sa Pa was pretty amazing. It's in the north, along the eastern edge of the Himalayas. I rented a scooter and just drove roads like this for hours. No tourists; just me, the bike, and the occasional kids playing in the rice fields yelling "goodbye!" because it's the only word they know.
