CFI CheckRide - DPE / Examiner Fees

Working on CFI, what is a fair fee for examiners these days if the FSDO has you do the exam with a DPE?

Also opinions on the Atlanta FSDO for CFI initial would be great. My other options was to train in South Florida with American Flyers and do the check ride down there or with the Orlando FSDO.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

These seem to be average rates for most of the country, but use caution. I've heard some DPE's (specifically those out of the Scottsdale FSDO) charge up to $1k for initials.

Yikes that is a punch in the wallet. When your not working things become super tight. I left my job in the corporate world to get back into flying. Fingers crossed with the upcoming journey.
 
$800 in Dallas for initial. Different DPE for my add-on was $400.

Both done at ADS/American Flyers....bit cheaper than Florida which is why I went. Wait time wasn't as long either...got 2 certs in 45 days.
