LAX commuter hotel ideas

Want to stay in LAX for one night cheap near the airport to fly out early on Tuesday. One time when staying at our short I saw SWA crewmember after crewmember walking from their hotel to the airport, so they must exist...

Ideas?

Concourse hotel is walking distance, same with the courtyard (slightly farther). Most have a crew rate, no idea what the range is anymore.

Custom Hotel has a van, it's pretty cheap if I remember correctly, it's ok.
Ok?? You're delusional! And I'm pretty sure we use a 3rd party now because their van was atrocious? Could be wrong, been many a blue moon since I had an overnight there.

Holy crap that place sucked. So yea, perfect commuter hotel! Just like the "not-so-quality-inn" ORD.

I didn't think it was that bad, van was a Mercedes and was reliable, room was a little wierd but clean, and the bar on the corner has good beer and jerk steak kabobs.

I thought it was alright, and pretty cheap.

YMMV.

Were you here when we stayed at the Renaissance?

Custom is terrible. Have to drop to my knees to get in bed. In the morning I have to roll over on to the floor and do a push up just to stand up. No furniture in the room. It's an old college dorm and all they changed was the sign out front and the lobby. Not the rooms. Oh, and don't forget the lights in the windows ;)

I spent a 5 day TDY at the Custom Hotel. The place had a European feel to it, but it was in a pretty good area. Bowling alley and grocery store right next door. Restaurants, bars, and the beach within walking distance. I have no idea what the crew rate is there though.

Ahhh, the lights.....haha. yeah, the beds are hilarious. It is cheap, the neighborhood is good and the van gets me to the airport on time.

But yeah, the Renaissance is better. For the price, the Custom isn't so bad.

Hah the knock off IKEA beds.

I'm showing $89. But...different AAirline, different rates. If they even give the rate to anyone besides OO.

Edit: Typo

Call The Hacienda...rooms are nothing to write home about but I've always stayed there with a crew rate in the 60-75 range I think. Across from a grocery store and Starbucks, has a diner next door, shuttle is reliable and 24 hour.

Edit: nevermind, it appears to have closed forever. RIP hacienda.

What! I can't believe it. I've been staying there off and on for 20 years. The emoticon hasn't been invented that can express the sadness that I feel right now for those old rooms and the moldy smell. Anything along Century Blvd. is walking distance/quick shuttle ride away from the airport.

Yea it's being renovated into a Fairfield I believe. Also almost done constructing an Aloft just next door. Just another option to add at some point.

Yeah, unfortunately it's being renovated and will become a Fairfield Inn if I remember correctly.

Sadly the Hacienda, and it's crew rates, are gone forever.

It was my preferred place to make a Hawaii/Asia pit-stop with the Ralph's across the street.

If you're looking for cheap and just a place to sleep and shower, look into a hostel nearby the airport and then just take uber or lyft. I heard of some flight attendants doing that around LAX but haven't tried it personally.

I did the hostel place once while commuting to LAX. It was definitely interesting. Like a Motel 6, but with a tiki bar by the pool and free popcorn. Not for everyone, but if you're into the backpacker lifestyle you'd probably like it.
