XJT contract

Scissors cuts Paper
Paper covers Rock
Rock crushes Lizard
Lizard poisons Spock
Spock smashes Scissors
Scissors decapitates Lizard
Lizard eats Paper
Paper disproves Spock
Spock vaporizes Rock
and as it always has Rock crushes Scissors

Wait. I didn't quite catch that. One more time?

It's kind of a crap shoot. Upgrade times can change in a heartbeat.
I've seen this rodeo once or twice. It's like cats chasing a laser or people rushing to jump into the next Apple stock.
Normally by the time one hears about fast upgrades and rushes over the wave has already broken. Meanwhile the one everyone talks down suddenly becomes the place to be.
My recommendation to people looking at regionals has not changed.
1. Look at the strength of the company.
2. Look at the contract. Pay is important but not everything.
3. Look at bases.
4. Last, look at upgrade time after considering everything else as a tie breaker. Heck, I've known a number of FOs with NO TPIC time who have been picked up by legacy carriers.
There is a good chance wherever you go it will only be a stepping stone to a major, but I know many senior pilots in their 50's and 60's who thought this would be the case 20-30 years ago. If you are paid and treated well it won't matter.

Thanks.

Interesting. Within hours of the results being released an announcement went out for an as yet undetermined number of CRJ instructor positions.

I wish we could agree on more, you guys have some awesome guys over there. One of the benefits of the DFW base is I get to meet CRJ guys as well.

As for the rock paper scissors, I propose rock paper scissors lizard spock :smoke:

I loved being up in IAD with the ERJ guys. Showed me that there were a lot more similarities than differences and that most of the poo slinging was from Internet tough guys and...unfortunately MEC leadership.

Looks like Brad Sheehan is leaving, off to Jet Blue University

That cat was let out early...Bahahaha.

The wheels on the bus are falling off, falling off, falling off, the wheels on the bus are falling off...all day long.

Whatever.

I am happy for him because he is probably the most "leader'ish" executive we have but I'm disappointed to see a potential leader run off to someplace else. He will do just fine there though.

I'm sure the CRJ pilots will be pleased. Especially the ones that spent 5 years in IAD flying for the United operation.

Is there now some sort of pathway program to United?
That's what I heard... Only for the ERJ side.

As we have mentioned for the last few months the extension ratification was a critical step forward for securing our future and providing our partners with confidence that we can compete with any carrier in the business. We have been engaged over the last year in conversations with our partners relating to career progression and stabilizing attrition in what has become a very dynamic and evolving pilot market. Today ExpressJet and United have agreed to a career pilot pathway that will offer guaranteed interviews to ERJ pilots who support the United Express Operation. In the coming weeks we will provide more detail to the conditions of the path and the commencement of interviews, but the following are key highlights: it will be seniority based, a guaranteed opportunity if the established conditions are met and include up to 25% of the pilot positions expected to be filled at United annually.

This path is possible thanks to the role our people play in making ExpressJet an industry leader – and the significance of our success to United. We believe this path, along with the contract improvements just ratified, allow ExpressJet to offer a career second to none. We will continue to work with our other partners to further improve already outstanding career progression. This is great and well deserved news for all people of ExpressJet. More information to come.

It's a wonderful day for ASA pilots.

We buy XJT, take their name, and are once again left in the dust.

Congrats ERJ drivers. Well played. Have horrible performance, get down in the gutter, piss off SkyWest Inc during their first attempt to snatch y'all up, realize you're dying during the second attempt that ends up being performed by ASA Holdings, Inc. and piss all over the living room floor for almost six years and now you can head on off to the big house with the tile.

Well played boys. Well played.

Yeah, I'm bitter. Big deal.

You see kids: It's not about always being nice.

Remind me again, what was your stock symbol on the day of the merger?

With 50 your seaters steadily going to the desert, also I hear UA doesn't like them. Are you guys ever getting 175's? Not an SJS question. I just know that United is in love with that plane. They don't even like Go Jet's 700's, and there is talk about UA not renewing GoJet's 700 contract. So what kind of future can XJT UA side have with only 50 seaters?
