Man Arrested After Laser Hits Pilot's Eye

We caught a guy in Olympia the other night. Crew caught laser and went into an orbit searching with FLIR. Dude was beaming the helicopter not realizing they can pull all that GPS data off the sensor they were watching him with and record it.

Got back and pulled the tape, burned it to a CD, passed the GPS and grid coordinate and gave them a 3 meter spot on the ground that lined up with the house in the video (match Windows and garage against the neighbors).


Cops called us back after they arrested him and apparently the dude just cried like a little girl when they took him in for processing. What a stupid thing to spend a night or more in jail with dudes who think you look pretty for.

Just land and make the app yourself. Always fun the times we get to when there's no ground units yet available.

Chase on I-10 south of Casa Grande of armed robbery suspect. Ground units lost the guy but we found him again further up the highway, still running. Suspect going over 100 mph, lights out, and then 60 miles later, rolled in a curve over 12 times while passing a big rig after overcorrecting, and wrecked his car into a bridge abutment. Hovered down to stop traffic and landed in travel lanes, as no ground units were at scene yet. Just getting out of helo and see the SOB crawling out of the upside down car and ready to fight. Takedown/fight was interesting enough, but successful.

Man... And we get in trouble for getting out to piss with the rotors still turning.
