Captain Pay

At the last place I worked it was after IOE and if accounting could figure it out, the following month. Dudes are still flying as PIC and getting SIC pay to this day.
 
Random question, does captain pay start at the first rate as listed in something like the other sites info, or does your seniority move over as well? I.e. 4th year FO rate moves to 4th year captain, or you drop down to 1st year captain? I get that it makes sense to drop down, but wasn't sure if it was time with company or time on seat?

Usually the first year rates are for DEC or CQFO. Otherwise everywhere else is based on longevity date.
 
Conversion date here at my shop. Sometimes it happens before training or during. "Kinda".

If they train someone out of seniority, you are pay protected. I was on CA pay for two months prior.

Effective date or the finish of the Fed ride, whichever comes first.

In this case they did.

A weird relic of the Southernjets system is they have up to 210 days to put you in your new position (sometimes 365 days !!). In this case, someone junior coming from a different airplane got trained WAY out ahead because the airplane I was coming off of was understaffed.

Sure would be nice if that was tightened up some so you knew when you could expect to 1) go to training and 2) be in your new position and 3) the last two couldn't be seemingly at random. Lemme see....I seem to recall an airline that did just that....hmmmm.

We have the same system out here and coming from an environment where you bid your actual class date for a transition or upgrade, it's kind of annoying. But it's the way it's always been and change is bad mmmmmkay?
 
At Commutair, it was only after your Fed ride in the old contract. In the new contract, it's after your upgrade checkride. Due to some miscommunication and strange happenings, it was two months from my checkride to my Fed ride. The change was much appreciated at that point!

We have Captain Qualified First Officers here and it changes things a bit. The bottom 10% of the Captain seniority list are CQFs, of which I am one. If you bid Captain reserve, they pay you Captain pay. If you take the option of bidding a First Officer line, you get paid at the FO rate. But on reserve, they can use you for either position as they need. Some guys don't like it, but I'm OK with it. I mean, I'd rather be a Captain only, but it's better to fly as an FO than just sitting the couch on reserve waiting for Captain time only.

Ah, yes, it is, in fact, all the same, it's just variations on the theme.

(I've spent most of my time on the phone this week with some CRJ FOs who are being held back due to operational needs - and pay protected, I might add! - for transition to "E75/B" [translated to Delta-speak]).
