Most junior NYC MD88 captain...

We have a similar Captain-centric culture here, for reasons undetermined; with two ATPs up front, there needs to be a lot less of that. It's always sort of shocking for me to meet someone in the crew lounge with my student council badge on and then they realize the guy doing a good amount of rep work is an FO, not a CA...but yeah.
We also are a very Captain centric airline. You should see the list of things that are Captain only. I think it's one of those Bush flying mentalities that is hard for a select few to get rid of.

Hold on a sec, seems a bit of this thread is a bashing on guys staying at regionals. Lets not forget that just 10-15 years ago Delta forced a 32% paycut and had guys on furlough. At that time, regionals were basically hiring direct entry Captains.

I'm very happy to hear Delta has a 2-yr CA now. But lets not bash regional guys for staying at regionals. Besides, less competition for those who want to move on.

When looking at 5, 15 send career plan, do you really think consolidation, FFD competition and majors begging to in-source feed that it's a winning move to want to plan on Expressjet being around for the next 30 years?

It's like music. Do you want to be a roadie for Rush or part of The Holy Trimverate?

Exactly. After seeing what happened to Comair I can't see why anyone unless they're REALLY close to retirement should count on a regional sticking around, especially now that mainline contracts have bounced back a bit. The financial sacrifice is pretty much just the first year.

Of course. But it depends on age. If I was 55+ and a senior CA at a regional, I'd probably suck it up. Best case I'd be fine til 65. Worse case, be jobless at 58-60, but then again, mandatory retirement used to be 60 before 2008.

But any guy in his 20s and 30s would be crazy for wanting to stay at any regional. Too risky in the 25-40 yr career run.

I'm sitting here at Portillos on a Sunday afternoon.

You know, you guys do exactly what you feel is best.

There are the Jenny McCarthy's of the "vaccination debate" and those that might actually have a foot in that other world but, hey man, gluten free non-GMO for the win. Goji berries for a detox smoothie.

Awesome. The Internet says it's good for proper colorectal health and cures the mumps.
