Thanks for sharing @Nark. Something tells me they're going to be overwhelmed with applications.

What is the current status of negotiations there? That $38 first year rate at 72hrs guarantee may be a drag for some folks. What can you share about training pay, length of training, likely junior bases, etc.?

Almost meet those mins. I Just need to get the "Restricted" part removed from my ATP certificate. Times are changing. Anybody know what NK's mins were prior to this change?

4,000 TT.

Just like VX. It was 4,000 and then dropped to 2,500 when things stagnated and we weren't the hottest stuff around. There are two ways to attract pilots: increase pay or drop the mins. One of them is cost neutral.

Not to be too big a Debbie downer, but just know there is a reason they dropped the mins to 2k.

Good luck to ya'll applying. Any LCC is still better than playing/risking staying in the regional airline gamble.

I know of people who left XJT and PDT for Spirit and are happy there. They pilot group seems to be good, even though the rest of the airline has been termed "it's own special hell".

Also, they started making 500 TPIC a requirement for attending a job fair and attending a job fair a basic requirement to get an interview. They must be getting tired of losing guys to the Legacies.

Like anything, applicants need exercise their due diligence. When the Deli halves the price of the Tuna on Rye, it may be because it's starting to stink.

Currently negotiations are moving at a snail's pace. Management has made it clear that they have no intention of paying even close to industry average. It's been expressed to us that as a ULCC "we are a different type of airline," and thus should not expect a salary commensurate with our peers. Needless to say there is little sense of optimism among the pilot group.

Neither company nor Union has any interest in raising first year pay above $38/hr. The union, and rightly so, is unwilling to expend bargaining capital on what should be in the companies best interest to attract qualified candidates. Again, that's $40k/year to fly a 228 seat A-321. When you factor in signing bonuses, most regionals pay more.

Keep in mind that without further A/C orders, Spirit has already hired its last Captain. If you're currently an RJ Captain and already have your 1000 PIC, then go for it. If you're an RJ FO remind yourself that Turbine PIC is still king, and is far more marketable than an A320 type rating.

Pilots are voting with their feet. Apparently at the NGPA conference there were several NK Captains waiting in line for UA/AA/DL. An Airbus Captain job really shouldn't have to be a stepping stone.

All in all, do what's right for you. The scheduling flexibility is truly industry leading, hotels are nice, and the pilots are a good lot. If you are hired be prepared to fight hard, abandon the "at least it's better than my last regional" mentality, and begin building your strike fund from day one.

So say if you're a regional captain for the last 5 months. And you now have 300tpic, so best to wait till 1,000 hours before moving up?

So you're making at least 70k, and there's a good chance you can move on in the next year past the likes of Spirit. As a regional FO/Air Force co-pilot I'm all over this though.
