PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release: January 15, 2016
SeaPort Airlines announced that it will discontinue all scheduled service to destinations in
California and Mexico as of 11:59pm on January 15, 2016 and Kansas and Missouri as of
11:59pm on January 16, 2015.
The company was forced to take this action because of the impact on SeaPort’s business and
operations following the effects of the shortage of airline pilots in the United States. Stations will
be closed and service is to be ceased at each of the following cities:
 Sacramento, CA
 Visalia, CA
 Burbank, CA
 San Diego, CA
 Imperial, CA
 San Felipe, BC (Mexico)
 Salina, KS
 Great Bend, KS
 Kansas City, MO
Customers with reservations for impacted routes will be issued a full refund for unused tickets,
and should call 888-573-2767 if they have additional questions about their refund.
Current service in the Pacific Northwest, Arkansas, Tennessee and Texas will be unaffected
and are expected to operate as scheduled and without disruption. Customers with reservations
for flights in these regions will continue to receive the quality customer service and airline
experience that they have come to expect from SeaPort Airlines.

Pay people a reasonable wage to carry passengers, maybe this wouldn't happen. I am qualified to apply at Seaport, but didn't for this exact reason.

They also need to charge a reasonable price. This is just as much a passenger being cheap problem as it is a legitimate pilot shortage.

These are EAS routes, I wonder if they are leaving prior to the DOT and local contractual open bid and route departure dates. Could get ugly for SeaPort.

Amazing that they will willingly downsize so much instead of coming up with some $$ to attract pilots. There are plenty of pilots out there, they just wanna eat.

They probably don't have the money. There are only a few places making huge profits. None of them fly Caravans.

Sucks for these EAS cities. Some went through the whole Great Lakes B1900 "real" airplane service, to "just kidding, pretend 10 of those seats don't exist", to "yeah...we still can't staff those flights...", to "Hey, if you're going to have 9 seat service, hows about a carrier that can complete flights, like us at Seaport", to...this.

Poor people who actually rely on these flights.

Where is that handy dandy Seaport thread at? Glad I dodged a bullet and listened to some of you guys....and people say airline forums are bad....
Hopeful commercial pilots who like to say that, in my experience, tend to add, "everyone on those forums is just full of negativity and loves to shoot people down". Yeah...generally if people who have been there and done that say, "Don't", well, you shouldn't. But people get so proud of themselves with their little plan to go and embrace suck and build time in a very specific job because of the romance of the whole idea of sharing a 2 bedroom apartment in Farmington, New Mexico with 4 guys with a smile on their face because they get to fly! Why burst their bubble with reality and suggest that they may have more than one path before them to take?
