CommutAir is expanding! Early next year, we will be looking to add dispatchers. Not sure on quantity or when. Dispatchers will be trained on props and jets. As for pay, IMO, its about the same as the other regional's and I don't see this increasing with the onset of Jets. As like the other regionals, it continues to be a mod-high turnover. Get your 1-2 years in, and then apply for mainline. I don't want to say too much as I'm sure company personnel are monitoring.

Not sure where they are coming from. Rumors and speculation are rampant. I just know that United is cleaning them up and making them turn key ready for us. Looks like we are getting LR and XR's.

Apparently, going around the floor, was these were planes were going to be sent to IGM because ExpressJet/SkyWest could not renegotiate a rate to keep these at XJT and UA didn't want to pay what ExpressJet was asking... So welcome to the jet age Commutair.

Will this require a new operations center/dispatch room? The current dispatch room is pretty small and you are now basically tripling the size of the fleet assuming the 21 turboprops stay in the fleet.

Some other info going around - XJT management allegedly says they didn't know about this announcement before it was announced (IMHO - these don't happen overnight and I smell some big BS); that this announcement is a ploy to recruit to C5 to staff the Q's, promise these ERJ aircraft, Flow to UA, an IAD base, but in true UA fashion, promise then take away these planes as fast as they are allotted.

From the management conference call, there is some speculation that these jets may never actually go over there to C5 (again smelling some Horse S now) due to staffing and jet training issues...

They are all LR's - no XR's.

Word from UAX was that Trans States turned these 40 down due to staffing issues...

So today ExpressJet told me to grab my ankles and spell run... Then told me to pay for dinner afterwards.

XJT is going to say anything to keep the place from completely imploding... United owns the jets, they can do whatever they want with them. Everybody knows what the endgame is for XJT.

So are these aircraft the ones that had already been taken away from XJT? Or is this a new batch?

I'm pretty sure United would give literally everything but the logo to lowest bidders if they could. Remember the ground-ops debacle in Denver? You don't see Delta or Southwest handing over its ground operations at their most important airports to the lowest bidder, and their reputation for customer service reflects that. The same philosophy seems to apply to their UAX strategy. Taking jets away from one of its most dependable partners and shifting them to an operation that has literally never touched a jet-powered vehicle, to cut costs...we'll see how that goes.

Hopefully XJT can ramp up business with AE...but I don't know anything about potentialities on that front.

Actually the Denver problem was when United sent their express ramp ops from SkyWest to Simplicity while insourcing express customer service to mainline.... DL outsources express ops in MSP/SLC/DTW.

Even ATL with DGS, right?

A new operations center is being built as we speak. It will be quadruple the size of the current operations room. This will handle the anticipated growth of the Jets....and as far as I know, we are keeping the props as well.

A rumor is floating around that CommutAir is looking to hire 2 dispatchers for a Dec 7th start date. If interested, send your resume to me (PM me for email address). Just a rumor folks. FYI, for those new guys fresh out of school. This isn't too bad of a starting gig. Starting pay is better than most. Most new hire's are hear for 1-3 years and then they move on to the big boys. All in all, get your foot in the door and start collecting that experience!!!

If that's the case. Sounds like this was known about for many months. Airlines don't just quadruple OCC's for the #%?@ of it.
