Didn't know about the memes but interesting that "dank" is starting to catch on outside my backyard.

On that note, when I had originally resigned from my current position, on my "what I like best about the company" page of my exit interview, all I wrote was: "The off-site drug testing is pretty dank". Although I remained in my position, the exit review still went to HR. They have since modified the drug testing program. :)

I heard "dank" in Columbia, SC in 2001. It was in reference to Mary Jane, and said by my pothead roomies all the time, but whatever.
 
wow just read the easter letter……what an F ing twat. I would drop my resignation paper immediately were that to arrive in my inbox. There are a lot of things I don't like about my "company", but one of the goods is that you can't get away with pulling **** like this without an IG investigation and likely ending up on the front of the Navy Times after being fired.

I just don't see the need/want to rabblerabblerabble about a boss talking about his personal philosophy in a company memo. He's not "pushing" anything; there's no statement in there that says employees have to think this way, or will face some kind of retribution. I do think it shows quite a lack of self awareness and is pretty poor leadership, but that's his prerogative as the boss. So long as he's not writing something that is illegal or discriminatory, I could not care less if a boss wants to embarrass himself in memos to employees.

What if he were an athiest? How about a Buddhist? Shintoist? Whovian? I don't care either way. People are allowed to have their own philosophies and worldviews. Talking about those philosophies and worldviews doesn't make it proselytizing, and it doesn't require me to agree with it. <shrug>

I think one of the closing lines captures how this is more than just describing a personal philosophy:

"As we contemplate the crucifixion of Christ on Good Friday and prepare for the celebration of His resurrection on Easter Sunday, let us reflect on the reality that Jesus’ sacrifice was the ultimate act of obedience and pray that we, too, can find eternal happiness through obedience to God’s commandments in our daily lives."

Implicit in that statement is that all employees have this as a value/belief. Not sure if he is just that far out of touch and actually believes this, or is rather making a possibly unintended proclamation of what he wants to see in every employee. Either way, I think he is out of his lane and should STFU.

Also, after a google search (never heard of the guy before), he looks about my brother's age, maybe a little younger. For a guy like that to equate his employees, many of whom are probably fathers of adults if not grandfathers, to his own infantile children…..and himself to I guess god, or jesus or whatever, is just absurd and would be insulting to any intelligent adult/human being. What a moron.

Yup. No matter what side of the issue, the most irritating thing to me is a millitant/extreme anything.

Even if I completely agree with your perspective, pointing out the other sides stupidity (perceived or actual) just makes you a dingleberry. You arent going to convince anyone they are wrong by being a dingleberry.

That type of letter reminds me of my former employer's letters (minus the religious content) explaining how it was the Democrats fault that he wasn't able to give is COL raises or bonuses and that if the Dems continue to win he couldn't guarantee that there wouldn't be salary cuts. I was eventually laid off so maybe he was right :sarcasm:
