Yeah, I think that makes them the highest paying feeder again at base pay. Unless I'm not noticing something with Mountain Air and Empire's compensation...

Oh damn, Encode lifted their iron curtain finally! Not the pay I thought they were getting... 25% 401k matching though. Jesus!

I dunno what it will take though. There's plenty of opportunities out there for low and high time guys right now.

I do hope they figure out. They've given me and many others A LOT and would like to see them continue down this road and grow to be successful AND a great place to work. It's getting there and if the effort continues, it will be pretty alright. The short staffing is the main kick to the nuts for QOL right now.

AMF has never been the highest in base pay. Starting pay in the C208 at Empire is a couple hundred short of 44k. MAC is 40k, Alpine is 42k and 35 a day per diem. 44k base is a edging them slightly so thats good.

What has AMF really given you? The real question should be, what have you given them, and have you been treated on par with the level of hard work and sacrifices you have made? (That is not meant to be a pointed dig or anything like that, I know AMF provides a good avenue to get time in the logbook. I meant it more as a perspective comment). Pay is a good start but it is a 1 item on a laundry list of things. The main kick to the balls for QOL is the freight lifestyle, always has been, always will be. The short staffing is a result of that ball kicking, not the other way around. When hiring wasn't an issue and pay was crappy, and guys were lining around the corner to get hired, QOL was absolutely terrible. Short staffing just adds insult to injury, but it isn't the reason for the lack of QOL.

I was referring the the original pay raise that happened a year ago. It was higher and then Mountain and Empire raised there's to just above ours. Now it appears to be higher again at first glance.

Indeed, some of the other bases will probably never have good QOL due to the schedule. PR in both bases was good when we were over staffed though. Relatively speaking of course. A rotation like some of the 135 chatters have would be ideal, but that would require a TON more pilots.

Some resume things and flight time in a short period of time is what they've given me. The money wasn't better though. Still dead even with my regional buddies that upgraded quickly...

When you compare other entry level jobs, and you tally the positives and negatives of places like regionals, turboprop or jet charter, freight etc. more emphasis should be made to look at what makes those desirable companies worth skipping, or leaving AMF for. The more tokens you can put in the AMF basket, the better it will be. Sadly there are lots of things that AMF will never be able to compete with, but bumping the pay is very much needed and I am glad to see that for you guys.

Home basing, with the new pay scale, might be enough to convince people to come there. I would entertain going back if something like that happened. Similar to Mountain Air's floater positions, with the time off they get as well.

With the spreading of crews so thin, and a culture where guys are scared to call in sick because they are the only one at an outstation, I highly doubt that would ever happen.

I get that, but the only way to change the revolving door of training is to make it so that you can retain people for longer than 18 months. Or, you do a cost analysis and decide keeping the 18 month or less cycle going is cheaper.

The revolving door model has always worked for them in the past. AMF has its place, it is what it is. I'm not sure what can be done outside of money to legitimately improve and attract people for the long haul.

They'd have to upend the entire culture of the airline.

They are matching 25%?

Uhh most airlines contribute 16 or more % unmatched, plus match a large amount over.

And I knew what he meant by 25%. You are correct @ppragman. But lots of companies do that. Mine is 50% up to 15%.

Yep, I am picking up what he was laying down now, that's actually not bad at all for freight. And 50% up to 15% is great!

Not even close in the regional world. XJT is 6% + 6% match @ 100% after 20 years. Lower percentages exist with less longevity.

I believe this is the best the regional side of the industry has to offer.

Your 16%+ figure is accurate for mainline however.

I'd have to dig, but I think Air Wisconsin still has the best compensation overall. Their health insurance alone makes jetBlue look like part-time Walmart.
