ExpressJet and SkyWest?

Wait... I think we may be talking about two different things.
SkyWest owns two companies.
SkyWest Airlines. Non-Union pilot group.
Expressjet Airlines. Two pilot groups, both ALPA, who probably wouldn't agree on the color of the sky.
I get along just fine with the ASA guys in our crew room. I have deadheaded a few times on CRJs and had nothing but great experiences. Re contract negotiations, we couldn't agree on how many eggs are in dozen

-head nod-
"Good morning"
-exasperated- "UP HERE!"

I think the ironic part is that though we may be passionate about certain issues such as PBS, I think when (if?), we get a JCBA, after a couple of years no one will really remember what the discord was about. If we go with your PBS I might not like it, but after a few years would I REALLY care? Probably not. Same with you guys and our PBS.
Heck, even management is just about on their knees pleading with us to just put aside our differences and get a stupid deal done. It seems like every other week another airline announces a TA.
The latest from the MECs sounds pessimistically optimistic.

My thing is when cant we try each PBS? If we can parallel bit with addop we can surely do it with flight line and smartpref. One would think that if you can give two options for everyone to try and then voted upon the majority would be happy. But thats just me...

Ditto with my experience in IAD and ORD with the ERJ guys. Really no bad experiences.

I think this rivalry is mostly on the interwebs.

I'm about ready to advocate colosseum style battle between to two MEC's. Then we can all sit around and watch the carnage and then give a thumbs up or down when its all over. :bounce:

I've recently been offered a class date at SkyWest and I figured it would be a better option than my current airline to hang my hat while on mil leave. I'm typed and current (recurrent 10/15) in the CL-65, so if I do a check-ride at SkyWest, will it be a PC (pass/fail) or an AQP (train to proficiency) event?

SKW CRJ is AQP. The 175 is not.

The logistics behind trying to do two parallel tests would be a mess. It isn't exactly and easy task. The LOA language would likely need to be rewritten to fit Flightline for that bidding so it would be an accurate comparison.

Correct. But my question is, will my initial check-ride with SkyWest, not future recurrent events, be AQP because I am already typed and current in the CRJ from another regional, or will it be a pass/fail proficiency check?

I don't think "rating ride" rules will apply for your initial course, then. I would probably have to call someone in flight standards to find out for sure.

Two points:
(1) they will train you adequately regardless, and
(2) your success in training is also on you.

It doesn't matter that you are typed already. If there is an AQP program, the check ride will be an AQP check ride, not a proficiency check ride. The only difference if you are already typed is that you will not have to do a maneuver or two that non-type rated people do have to do. At my shop that would mean you could skip the rejected takeoff and the taxiing from the right seat. Otherwise it is identical to the ride a non-type rated pilot would get.

Good luck. :)

Interesting. At my old airline we had AQP in place but my initial type ride was still a pass/fail, not a 2 day train to proficiency AQP like our recurrent check-rides. Glad to hear SkyWest does things y'alls way.

So I just read on another site that SkyWest will remove all of your travel benefits (not just CASS) while you are on military leave after 30 days. Is this correct? Also, if I go on mil leave before I finish training, will I still accrue seniority? Again, I've heard the answer is no. Interestingly enough, I know several people who were called to duty before finishing training at other regionals and not only have they kept their benefits, they've accrued seniority the entire time. In fact, one of my friends has still not finished IOE and he's senior enough to hold captain!

I'm not sure about CASS but where I work there is a union mil leave guy that will unleash the wrath of hades upon the company for messing with the mil guys. My understanding that seniority is not messed with. I'm not a mil guy but that's how it is where I work. I was out on medical for a short time and did lose cass and company jumpseats as soon as I declared.

SKW will allow you to keep CASS while one LoA and travel benefits, you just have to state reason of travel and give a 15 day window. Not sure but I think it said that wasn't needed for Military leave. KCM goes bye bye the entire time. 8(

Yeah, my off the cuff answer is that your seniority is retained and your longevity frozen, but I don't venture to those parts of the manual that often, so take it with a massive grain of salt.

Well I'm still shocked that SkyWest is double occupancy during training. Hell, even MESA does single rooms.
