Bay Area. Now.

TL;DR version:
  • Safety pilot/CFI available for airplane splitting/time building 10/14—10/25 in the bay area.
  • Night ideal.
  • LARGE blocks of flight time preferred.
  • Has airplanes available.
Long version:

I need to build about 70 hours between now and the 25th, in the bay area. My current plan is to fly around and burn holes in the sky in a 7ECA at ~10 hours per day and night for $92/hr out of Reid Hillview... but I'm also current in 172s/182s/152s out of Palo Alto.

I want to do some safety pilot type of flying. The long and short of it, though, is that I need a decent amount of time per day, and a good chunk of night. If anyone is thinking about time building around here and wants to split some safety pilot/instrument time, please let me know.

I'm also available for instruction, though for obvious reasons I wouldn't want to do any sort of instruction that was ground-heavy. :P

The offer is still on the table of you want to come out to PDX and knock out the night with me, You can crash at my place. The 150 are 75 an hour and the 172 is 100 an hour.

I'm literally orbiting over Tracy at the moment, intending to be on station for four more hours... lol. x9
Don't be that guy!! You're going to make me think you are one of my old Indian students. They used to fly to the valley, land, and leave the engines running to "build hours".
There are soooo many awesome strips in that area. At least follow I-5 up to Willows and get yourself some pie at the terrific airport restaurant. It's open 24hrs, so you can get your night flight and still be relatively safe in a single with I-5 below you.
BTW, which Citabria are you in?

HR5900. Nine more days. 57 more hours. I'm not going to land and leave the engine running to "build hours" (though I may not always take the most expeditious route to taxi ;), but cruising burns more gas than loitering at 60 with the power pulled back, and fueling takes time out of the day. The loiter time on a Citabria is pretty ridiculous. (And that's a good thing ;)

I may do that tonight. Most of this stuff is just spur-of-the-moment—I've tried to find people to go with me for company, but have not been successful. I've considered going to Willows for food both days, and today I might actually do it. Passed it yesterday.

Today, it's N990WY again, I believe.

No, not the green one. Never fly the green one. It's not ripe.

Fly slow and low down to Mercey Hot Springs. There are two rambunctious airstrips down there. One's at the Hot Springs. Careful, potentially full of gopher holes... but you can also land on the paved highway that runs immediately parallel to it and quickly taxi onto the airstrip before anyone notices (it's really empty down in that valley). Down a little farther south is an old grass glider strip. Short, but good condition. You can chase some cows on your transit between these two places. Remarkably, both of these extremely remote places have roadhouse-like restaurants. The glider strip has awesome BBQ.

Offer still stands to split gas in an IFR Warrior in Chicago land. (Plane is getting sold end of this year, so this offer is fleeting)

Other fields with good food on airport, in the vicinity...
Mercey Hot Springs
Auburn (AUN) (breakfast is best)
Columbia (O22) (well, it's a short walk to the food, not precisely "on airport")
Hollister (again, my fave is breakfast, but good burgers, etc)
Watsonville (full on restaurant and bar right on the airport.
Half Moon Bay (multiple good restaurants from which to choose)
Petaluma (two niner diner)
Harris Ranch (3O8). Harris has great food if you like meat.
Merced (great BBQ and bar in a funky old circular hangar)
