Delta sues Republic over cancelled flights

What's more appalling in everyone's eyes? The heavy Christian influence or the fact that he used his Christian views as a way to condemn his entire pilot group?

People don't learn from history. Years ago Mesa, in contract negotiations, dragged their feet on any raises or QOL improvements. The year I was hired at Mesa of a pilot population of about 1500 the 1 year attrition rate was 700 or more.

Without even going into the spending a dollar to save a nickel in terms of how much it costs to send 700 newhires through sim compared to just giving us a raise, our staffing on the CRJ got so bad we were cancelling flights left and right on all our systems, but especially Delta. This pissed Delta off, they told Mesa to get its act together and Mesa did not -- eventually Delta just cancelled our contract and got someone else who could actually do the job to do it.

The loss of the Delta contract was too much, the straw that broke the camel's back and caused Mesa to go into bankruptcy.

It's kind of like that old parable "For Want of a Nail" but in transigent airline management form.

Yet Mesa still exists after hooking up with US Airways, so does the whole experience mean anything? I think not. I'm pretty sure it's the goal of every regional CEO to cut of their nose to spite their face.

Guess I'm just not riled up by guys talking about their worldview, whether I agree with it or not (I guess mostly because I intentionally consume media that doesn't match my worldview, so perhaps I'm just used to it).

There's a difference between talking about your worldview in a personal setting and publishing it in a company memo. It's completely inappropriate for the CEO to push one particular view on his employees. What if he were an atheist? I'm pretty sure that would go viral if a CEO bashed Christianity in a company memo. Why the difference?

I think you mistakenly believe that I somehow endorse what Bedford wrote.

I don't.

I just don't see the need/want to rabblerabblerabble about a boss talking about his personal philosophy in a company memo. He's not "pushing" anything; there's no statement in there that says employees have to think this way, or will face some kind of retribution. I do think it shows quite a lack of self awareness and is pretty poor leadership, but that's his prerogative as the boss. So long as he's not writing something that is illegal or discriminatory, I could not care less if a boss wants to embarrass himself in memos to employees.

What if he were an athiest? How about a Buddhist? Shintoist? Whovian? I don't care either way. People are allowed to have their own philosophies and worldviews. Talking about those philosophies and worldviews doesn't make it proselytizing, and it doesn't require me to agree with it. <shrug>
