Flight to Atlanta grounded due to tarantula problem

Funny as hell. I don't get people who keep tarantulas as pets. It's an arachnid with more hair than any human and it's big enough to have audible footsteps. I know they supposedly make great pets but my creepy-detector goes off the charts and all reason flies out the window. KILL EM ALL.

I have two words for arachnid owners:

Evolutionary.

Anomaly.

I. HATE. SPIDERS.

The GF, through the course of her work, deals with a plethora of creeping crawling nastiness. She frequently makes light of my spider dread, and got me the following for my B-day. I was SERIOUSLY unamused.

Agree with Derg completely. It is evolutionary hard-wiring.

Owning cats that love to kill spiders is completely full of win.

You're still dating her after she pulled a stunt like that?! If the wife ever pulled any crap like that there would be serious consequences!

In a weird twist, she absolutely hates the legions of geckos, iguanas, anoles and lizards that inhabit the area. The opportunities for payback are numerous, but I suspect that I'll let this go.

not to get in the way of a good bit of hysteria, but don't tarantulas not typically bite? Could be totally off on that one, but for some reason that sticks out in my mind. Meanwhile, we have a ginormous black widow (like cartoonishly large with equally cartoonish budweiser stamp) stuck between the back door and screen door outside the living room. I may just try and starve it out, rather than confront it.
We have the smaller ones (I don't remember what they're called) in PR. The only recent bite I've heard of is a guy thay picked one up and panicked. His heart rate increased and the pulse in his hand spooked the spider. Supposedly... I'm going with, the guy was wasted. Haha They normally run away. By run, I mean teleport. SO fast!

I had one in my house once. It sat reared back in the middle of the floor for a good ten minutes while I looked for a large bowl. Not a fan of that

I don't have that much fear of them as long as they stay out of my face! Make your web in the corner outside please. :) They eat the chikungunya and dengue spreading mosquitos. Can't hate them too much...

Hey you guys posted it more than me at this point! Think of the Google image search I had to endure to find that.

Spiders are creepy as hell.

They're creepy because of evolution. The ones that weren't creeped out by spiders got eventually bitten and killed by venomous arachnids.

The stronger humans, the ones that developed a heavy evolutionary fear of spiders were the stronger sort and moved on to reproduce.

The people that aren't afraid of spiders are evolutionary anomalies.

Darwin still waits… patiently.

Whaaa.....Anoles are the greatest pets ever. If you live in Florida they are free, simply don't pick them up and take them outside when you see em. Bug free house, relatively little cleanup.

The cats eat them too. They're rather indiscriminant that way. I've cleaned up more than my share of severed gecko heads. That's what you get when you try to sell car insurance to cats.

Spiders don't really scare me. Living in South Florida, I have a rather large lizard population outside of my house. The keep the bug population in check! The only thing that annoys me is the poop that the iguana leaves around my pool.

The only creepy crawly that freaks me out is the palmetto bug.

They fly, you know.

Many a screaming transplant has discovered that at an awkward moment.
