The company does not offer direct deposit, but they will transfer your pay directly into your account at BoA since that's who they use. The only other option is to have the checks mailed to your house, which is of course difficult when you're not home.

If there isn't a Bank of America branch in your area, you can set up an account there online.

There are some other hotel cards with good rewards and upgrades. I was a dumbass for not getting my IHG card sooner as you get upgrades, points, late checkouts and earn more points each stay. I actually have both of those cards. Not sure if hotel rewards program credit cards would be the right choice for everyone but I found them handy to earn extra free nights, which comes in handy since hotel rooms are typically the biggest personal expense on the road.

And I agree Air America is an excellent way to build good credit. One of the many nice things about the company.

Ah, that is good to know! Thanks for the heads up about that.
 
While packing light might be convenient, you'd be amazed what it can do for your sanity if you have enough stuff to feel a little at home in the hotels. You are gone for 8+ months, you don't want to be living on travel tooth brushes, 3 changes of clothes, and hotel powdered eggs.

I can deposit checks with my banks mobile app. Will this work, or is BOA the way to go without having to ask your parents to run errands? lol

The checks would be mailed to your home address, so you'd have to be physically present at home to deposit it. If your parents or someone else at home are willing you could give them Power of Attorney at your bank so they can deposit them for you. Though I suppose you might be able to have someone at home send you a picture/scan of the check and you could use the app to deposit it. At any rate, I would say it would be easiest to just use BoA and I believe pretty much all of our current pilots do.

You need BOA. You aren't in one place long enough for them to mail checks to you, so you either let them deposit it for you into BOA, or they mail to your parents and they do it.
You also really need BOA because we all split costs and it's super easy to send money to the other pilots since we all have BOA.

This. I forgot to mention but splitting the cost of hotel rooms, rental cars, etc. is another reason it's easiest just to use BoA.

Layering is absolutely the way to go. It makes you more adaptable, and saves you from packing the bulky coat.

Hotel breakfast makes me gag to this day.

And XBox was a a pain to lug around, but a lifesaver. I had a big bag and stood it up behind the right seat and it worked great.
 
I've got a 2.5 hour layover in Houston and Miami on Sunday. Anyone else going throw those two? It's going to be a long day day for me. Leaving OKC at 8am and getting into MCO at 7:30.
