The Dreaded SSSS

Just got ssss again. Will see if it happens on the return leg. Makes no difference outbound (to the U.S.) for a direct flight.

Hmm I've never gotten it, and my year as a gate agent (a long time ago) I only saw it once, and the guy knew he was going to get it. So does this happen often to you all?

However, until I got Known Traveler, they would buy last minute one-way tickets. So I always got "randomly selected". A they were giving me the complimentary radiation therapy/prostate exams, they'd stumble across my badge. "What's this?"

[snob face] Do you fly into here?

[troll face] "Yeah, I brought a 747 in 45 minutes ago. You can see it from the windows over there"

It was to no avail as my ability to fly a fully laden and fueled widebody over their fair city in no way qualifies me to be trusted as a passenger in a middle seat in the last row of a 737 going 3 hours north in the eyes of the tip of the spear of our national security.

This has happened to me and my response was similar minus the 747. The things I want to say to them but have to bite my tongue. If only....
 
Anybody could say they just flew that plane in.

Which would take longer, the secondary screening or them trying to figure out if you really were on the crew list of some flight that came in 30 minutes ago?

Why, are they being given extra scrutiny is my concern. Totally random doesn't work. Hell, when the TSA misses more than 90% of stuff they are supposed to be catching....
 
I have gotten in the past when one carrier changed me to another in short order. Usually on a rebooking.

While not international I've seen it when non-revving. In one case it would have been comical if not for the loud speakers blaring "Party of two ______, report to gate ___ immediately or your seat will be given away." The person "randomly" selected for increased scrutiny in each case was my then five year old son.
TSA- "Sir please raise your hands."
TSA- "No sir, not over your head, to your side."
Loudspeaker- "Party of two _____, this is your last call."
TSA- "No sir, please stop flapping your arms like a bird. Just hold them up."
Loudspeaker- "Party of two_____, last call."
TSA- "No sir. Again, not over your head, to your sides."
As I try to step in and show my 5 year old son what they want.
TSA- "SIR, PLEASE STEP AWAY FROM THE GENTLEMAN WE ARE SCREENING!!!"
Me- "You mean the little kid??"
TSA- "Sir. You are not being an effective team member."
Loudspeaker- "Party of two ______, the door is closing."
 
Serious question...

Sometimes on our deadheads we'll get this as well. It's strange, and if there's a KCM, I've heard of guys simply folding up the boarding pass and proceeding through KCM normally. Is this kosher?

If I've passed the sniff test to be KCM, I'm going to use KCM.

What if you went through KCM and got your boarding pass at the gate. There is often a KIOSK or just tell the person working the gate you don't have a boarding pass. Then, if it said SSSS, you could always go back and go through security again....

Yeah our company memo says that we have to go out of security and back through security of we get the SSSS on our boarding card after security.
