Good luck Republic dudes and dudettes

If you're paid well and you are a professional you do your JOB.... Flying .68 to make money and subsequently F the paying passengers in back isn't being the professional you were hired to be.

I'm all for making money. I however am not about making people miss connect, forcing an out station ramp crew to do a 20 minute turn or less because I needed to make money.

I'm sorry you can do your job and do the bare minimum and have the same results... Perhaps I'm crazy though....

You can do both. If you're able to block out a couple minutes early and fly the company provided speeds, you can make a little money. But when you're late the company provided speeds usually say 320 until .80.

But yes. I want my company to succeed, but my motivation at work has less to do with the company bottom line as it does taking care of people. Flying as a passenger sucks, it's up to us to make it as minimally crappy as possible.

What is funny, is I bet that CA playing games to make a few extra dollars can't figure out why he isn't being called for a mainline interview yet some of his FO's are.

Some companies only care about being on time, so it is max speed just about everywhere you go.

Please quote where I wrote "F" the pax in the back. This is from post # 157:
I try to help the company out, but if we are late I am going to put the pax first.

About the only time I have seen something as low as .68 is when we are way ahead of schedule.

.68 is total torture. Just fly the way your supposed to and block will be preserved. That's how it got there in the first place.
Often, the same clowns that want to fly Mach point slow are also the fast-taxi crowd. I don't get it.

There are times to fly CSTID and times to ignore it wholesale, and then there are all other times which fall in the middle of "SmartCI with a dose of on-board intelligence."

Conversely, I've had times where it commands me to fly at mach point fast, but we simply don't have the fuel (or I would rather save the contingency, which SmartCI will happily consume, for contingencies).

Ours figured out that since they are not paid block or better by our mainline overlords, getting there early costs them money. Getting there late costs them money. So as close to right on time is the goal.

Actually I think it does consider multiple inputs to include A:14, D:0 for the follow on leg as well as other performance numbers.
I understand it also factors in your seniority number minus your DOH, divided by your birthdate, times the square root of the dow at its last close, divided by the price of North Sea crude.

@Gonzo the story goes that, one winter, there was far less de-icing than anticipated, which sent our block hours ( = billable hours) through the floor, which meant that the company's finances went a similar direction. Hence the "preserve the block hour" mentality.

Planned TAS on our releases is almost always 290-to-.74, so if you want to get there with "book" fuel (which sometimes is an issue), then you should consider THAT factor as well.

What are the odds IBT national forces this to the pilots for a ratification vote?

Moneyline is opening at -450.

I'd say +200. Bourne knows that's a guaranteed no vote. Or at least he should.

You didn't directly here but maybe I read in between the lines incorrectly? Again I just advocate for doing my job.... I get paid pretty well hourly and still try my best to keep on schedule or ahead.... I haven't a clue if the next crews on a last day, a passenger might have a terminal family member in a city their going to etc. In essence just doing my job keeps me out of trouble and typically my passengers and co workers on time....

I understand safety. If you weren't given the fuel that's another story. However that can always be fixed on the ground ahead of time by requesting more fuel to start?

Again maybe I read your previous comment INCORRECTLY. If so then my apologies.... I just hate the ones out there doing everything to over block and being incredibly selfish.... Keeping things simple as just doing your job typically protects block times and also allows the possible gains of minutes in over blocking.

You did not read all my posts in this thread. I don't repeat things I've written already unless I am dealing with someone who is dense. However, I also understand that threads can get long and I always don't go back and read every post. But I did quote for you the initial post I wrote in this thread.

Trust me, there's a lot of truth to this.
