Jetblue window open August 7

Would it be foolish to begin applying at Jet Blue and LCCs now even though I just started in 121 and don't have nearly the competitive mins?
I wouldn't touch Frontier or Spirit till you hit their mins or get close. Their application system is jacked up. Once you upload 3 resumes they no longer accept resumes and you can't delete previous resumes.

Sat face to face with a recruiter within the last year......She stressed the job fairs......and then she stressed the job fairs again......And I'm pretty sure I heard something about most having to have 4000hrs.

I just spent 8 days at JetBlues faculty doing the ATP/CTP course. I was thoroughly impressed with the facilities and the employees. I wouldn't mind hanging my hat there, but I have nowhere near the time to even apply I don't imagine.
One of my sim instructors happened to be a previous VP of Flight ops, and is now a line captain evidently. Anyways, he said that the job fair was huge for getting hired now. Anyway, I may toss in an app and wish upon a star lol!

Yes, I believe they usually get about 3-5k apps during their 10-14 day app window. Jetblue is the only place I'd leave my current mainline gig for if that tells you anything. This will be my 4th app window but I've never been successful with trying to bid a job fair day off and I'm not the type to lie about a sick call so I'll just have to hope for a little luck.

Well living in base (as is the case for most companies I'd imagine) is a beautiful thing. Plenty of day trips if that's what you're looking for....

I'm out of JFK, middle pack FO and get a mix of day trips and two days...Like to get to the islands or West Coast now and again. From talking with a few buddies of mine at a large legacy, if I can hold 2 leg day trips and 2 leg transcon 2-days, that's about as good as one could hope for (after you burn out of international).

So I cant find the job under First Officer opportunities. Is the the First Officer job under non-flying jobs. Is that the one?

Too bad the job fairs they go to are very few and far between.

From what I have seen first hand, I actually don't really believe that. I know, crazy, but truth.
I think you're onto something. I not availed of any mountain top view, but I've seen a lot. If any generalization can be made, it's that by and large aviation is a hive of purely reactive chaos. Come to think of it, that pretty well describes the human condition in general these days.

Is JetBlue really getting that much interest when all the majors are hiring right now?
Think of how many regional F/O's and junior CA's there are out there. I wanted to work for jetBlue because I believed in their business model, their management, and thought they offered one hell of a competitive product and will withstand the test of time. They are small enough that advancement will happen with growth even without the retirements as they take market share from the other carriers (namely, AA and UA). I also dug their domiciles, especially the FL and west coast ones.

There are certainly some guys that can be picky - ex-mil, check airman, other majors like Allegiant etc. but for the vast majority at the lower end of the ladder, it's a great gig.

I think most see it as another ticket out of the regional's. Many I've talked to will go anywhere that is a step up. I personally would be happy to call Jet Blue home if that is where I end up. I hear nothing about great things about their pilot group and company culture. And honestly, most of the Blue guys/gals I've talked to in passing have been extremely friendly and willing to give their time to answer questions about the company... I can't say the same about some of the other airlines.

I just heard they are pretty much only considering people that go to the career fairs. The recruiters want to meet you face to face before they select you for an interview.

Not at all.

I think "competitive mins" is a term those on the outside looking in use (I realize some companies publish this as well). However there are many examples, myself included, that were hired well below "competitive mins."
This...It can be done.

Then why bother on opening an app window, if they won't have any interest for other applicants........, that perhaps, were not able to attend to any of those conferences, it does not mean someone is not interested working there.

Because it could all change tomorrow, and then you show persistence by applying each time the window opens.
