AA/US-AW. Now the fun begins.

What's everyone thinking about the October bid that just came out? Decreasing lines everywhere, but 30-something group 2 and above captain vacancies. Think we will see lots of displacements?

Anyone notice with pretty much every permanent bid that comes out, there is always a net decrease in the number of pilots on property?

Frustrating to say the least. Glad we have retirements.

I was two away from a primary in April, not anywhere close now.

Meanwhile DAL and UAL are hiring like gangbusters. I noticed we've lost a around 40+ airplanes system wide and with the deferrals of the NEOs it will be even worse in the coming years.

Doug "shrink to profitability" Parker

I really hope to God the commuters collapse and we have to bring that flying in house.

With 1000 deferrals still out there, the OTS hiring may take awhile. For those of is already here, stuck in Place at LUS. We have no airplanes coming, only ones leaving. All the new hires are going to the L-AA wide. So until we fully merged, grab a snickers.

I had no idea there were still so many deferring furloughees there.

What is the timeline like? When is "last call" going to be for the more senior people and more junior people of that thousand? (I'd imagine there's not a huge longevity spread amongst them despite the large amount?)

May 2016 is the last call provided they are still actively having classes at that point. Where they will fall on the seniority list is not determined yet.

"To give you some background that may not have occurred to you, US Airways has been hiring since late 2010. In fact, prior to December 9, 2013, they hired approximately 750 pilots – all but 50-70 of which were hired under the pre-greenbook contract. The demographics of those pilots – median age of hire was 27, expected to go to the right seat of an Embraer (no other legacy airline flies group 1 aircraft currently). Most came from the right seat of a regional as they could not recruit many of the highly qualified applicants that held out for American. Median hours of new hires were 1800-3000 total time with minimal, if any, pilot in command time. The demographic of the Legacy AA new hires from October 2013 until the hiring process was streamlined in August 2014: median age 40-45, expected to go the right seat of group 2 or group 3 aircraft at an airline that had not hired since 2001, with 6000-10000 median hours total time and 2000-4000 pilot in command hours. The apples to apples comparison of new hires didn’t occur until August 2014 when new hires for both groups went through one hiring and selection process."
