SWA taking off with music over PA?

Well, as an OLD consumer, I'm not interested in this, and would be hugely disconcerted, were it a flight for which I paid.

I have no knowledge of POIs or FOMs, but this is, to me, unprofessional in the extreme. I clearly don't fall anywhere close to the Southwest marketing demographic.

I personally look for pleasant/friendly, polite and professional, and spend my dollars accordingly. This, to me, represents none of those qualities. Of course, I am old and your mileage may vary tremendously.
There is a reason I give Delta my company's money whenever possible.

Wait...what if my whip has props? (other than chicks dig beta) (insert generic comments about turboprops here ______ )

We're not talking boats.

Oh, you mean propeller-driven airplanes! We have those? :)

Here's my opinion, feel free to agree or disagree I really don't care.

IMHO, one of the marks of a professional is the ability to tell the difference between when it is time to buckle down and focus 100% on the task at hand, and when it is OK to relax and let off some steam.

It seems like those who take objection to this sort of silliness are in one of two categories. The first is the CYA mode, you really don't care, but you worry about some idiot reporting it to an anal retentive FSDO inspector. The second just has a broomstick up their butt and/or hates SWA on general principles.

Personally, I think the corny jokes are a welcome difference from the standard boring FA briefs and people actually listen vs tuning them out.

I for one don't understand companies who will not protect their employees from senseless accusations from the general public. IIRC, a few months ago a Spirit FA got in trouble for posing for a picture in the inlet of a plane parked at the gate. She was reprimanded, and forced to take the picture off of her FB page. I may be wrong, but I just can't see that ever happening at SWA (the reprimand) which is one reason they have a much better relationship with their employees.

Aside from asking direct no matter what phase/crazy airspace they're crossing, why?
Not descending at appropriate rates to miss traffic. Not maintaining speeds they are assigned in the downwind. Not maintaining speeds assigned to the marker.

There's a third category group, the CYA crowd who also despises Southworst.

Frat party?

Dude, really.

I'll make sure I run a dress code and scream "No Tomfoolery!" there... In Las Vegas... Amongst people very excited to see one another again, finally meet and, well, walk away with networking contacts.

Plus, there was no goat.
Nobody wound up in the hot tub. I think?

Soooo glad I left that godforsaken airline. What a bunch of unprofessional hicks.

And the reason the POI would violate the crew is because the PA needs to be available for emergency announcements from the flight crew. A nice inspector would probably excuse the front end crew if they said they didn't know what the jackass FA was doing, but a not-so-nice inspector (the POI isn't the only one who rides in the back and can issue LOIs) wouldn't hesitate to write up the whole crew. Stupid, stupid, stupid. And tacky and unprofessional.
OMG! Really??!!
I'm gonna go with... he apparently was a former Navy pilot... and this was his last flight. Lighten up, Francis. Your blood pressure, and people who want to have a little fun in life, will thank you. BTW, you can always break into the intercom if you need to. Perhaps you need to review the manual.
