Some interesting pictures there showing a side view of the part (showing it's clearly not symmetric which to me rules out ship rudder) as well as a side-by-side of the part and what looks like a parts diagram. Sure looks like the real deal.

I think it's far more likely that we didn't get the full story of TWA800 than this 777 is being armed with a nuke on some island or something of the like. Because facts and science.
