It won't take you more than a year if you're flying a lot to become competitive, the hiring part is more who you know. You can definitely get hired at their posted mins, but chances are you'll need an internal to get the call.

Just for an example, I exceed the mins for NetJets, applied the day the window opened last year, and never heard a peep. People I know who had an internal got called right away. It's a crapshoot just like anything else. Not saying you won't get hired without an internal, but it definitely helps get your stuff to the top of the pile.

Thanks for the info. I unfortunately know ZERO people at NetJets lol! But I'm also not limiting myself to them. I would be happy to go to Amy of the home based fractionals to get started.
 
Does NetJets participate in all the carrer fairs for hiring? Are they anticipating any mass retirements or need for pilots in the next 3-7 years like their 121 counterparts?

@badtransam97 I wonder if you could get your foot in the door at like a Business jet career fair. I can't think of any specific events but I know they have a big one every year.

I haven't heard that we are sending anyone out to the career fairs yet, but they don't tell us much anyway.

Retirements at Netjets is the great unknown. Since there is no mandatory retirement age in 135/91k, we have a LOT of 65+ aged pilots on our list. If there is an 'early out' provision in the next contract, we may see a large number of them heading for the exits.

No mention of NetJets yet, but EJM, XOJET, and Jet Select will be at the upcoming OBAP jobs' fair!

I guess I should've asked this in the beginning, but does having TPIC have a huge impact on getting hired?
Like I mentioned earlier, my "plan" would be to use the regionals as a stepping stone to get to NJ, but I would hopefully get enough hours in to qualify before making captain at the regional level. Just wondering if that would be good enough, or if I need to an on staying long enough to upgrade and get TPIC?? Obviously the TPIC would be better than not having it, but didn't know if it was normal to be hired without it.

I can't speak for others, but I only had 100 TPIC in a single when I got hired. All things equal, I'm sure it's preferred, but it doesn't seem to be a show stopper.

I had about 700TPIC when I got hired. Some guys didn't have any. Honestly I wish I could tell you the magical secrets that HR uses to select people but I haven't a clue...

Seems to be all over. I had 2,000 TPIC 121, but I know others in my class that had none. They're looking at the whole person rather than just numbers. I just had a buddy of mine called for an interview after walking his resume in. Seems like internals are counting.

So meet some. Find out where people are located and meet up with them if this is what you want. There are people on here who work where you are wanting internals more than likely. Find them.

I'm gonna do my best, just gotta figure out who and where they are! I don't get out of SW Tn a whole lot, so not sure how many of them are within reasonable distance, but I'd sure buy some sweet teas lol!
 
If you know what local FBO or hotel they use I'm sure you could hang around and meet people. It is a little stalkerish sure.... But what have you got to loose? You gotta be hungry right! I would find some guys working there and just tell them you are interested. (Have some thoughtful questions ready as well as a business card). It's been my experience that most guys are more than happy to talk your ear off if they have time. You could always ask the desk lady at the FBO who the fun guys are, she might even introduce you.
