Delta TA

I get it, and am sorry the Union didn't back you to the fullest. Our Union, I contend is nothing more than a YMCA without the pool.

Thanks for the coffee reference. This is where is spend my one day a week with 3/4th Baileys and coffee contemplating crappy readbacks, malcontents (on both sides) and better life in Baghdad. US pilots (maybe it's only the ATP guys) think they're the only one in the skies around a fairly (busiest in the World) busy approach control.. What's my sequence. Well damn, you're number one! It could be a hell of a lot worse. Add mandatory 6 day weeks to your TA.

I disagree nationally, though locally I have no clue and I could see it being the case.

Your experience underscores why I won't ERR or bid out. Everyone else can trip all over themselves to be at a level 12 next pay period and no PCS for you. Ya'll (them obviously, not you) have fun, I'll just be here in my level 10 sand box getting every shift swap and schedule change I need.

and how many months does one need on the property before being allowed to express an opinion on a contract?

One should have an understanding immediately, and an opinion soon after.

That significantly differs from shouting down all the pilots who have been through the great times and bankruptcy and understand what value they bring to the company.

There are times when people are forced into action. Being 10,000 out of 12,000 and fairly new to the job is the time to understand why God gave you two eyes, two ears and one mouth.

I have been a controller at only the highest facilities in my entire career (17+ years most recently at Atlanta TRACON) and would kill for more than 4 days off a month and double my salary.

Just for the sake of argument, I have to question the "double your salary" statement. Yeah, a few DL guys would make 300 but it's not a 17 year guy. 17 years is probably more like 250. And I'm sure your making more than 125. Probably closer to 200 with all the OT if you only get one day a week off. I was an ATA at LA TRACON in the mid-80's and the controllers there were making north of 100 back then. Also, you can do 20 (I think) and walk away with a government pension. Many pilots would "kill for that", too. Anyhow, not being critical at all, but trying to show another perspective. I tried to be a controller and washed out of the academy. I was lucky....

Like I said, I'm staunchly pro-union and my veins flow strong with SouthernJets blood, but this TA, well... All parties involved should have known better.

That's why the last month hurt, was hyper personal to me and I went a little "aggro" when the topic came up and scaled back my participiation on the topic, somewhat.
It is simultaneously possible to:
(1) love where you work, the flying that you do, and your coworkers you do the flying with, and
(2) disagree politely, firmly, and passionately with your management (and your union, for that matter) regarding the terms and conditions of your employment.

(While (3) getting the job done safely and well.)

Wasn't trying anything. I was simply making a joke because there is a multiple page thread about Evolution in the Lav right now.

Oh yeah. Seemed like a troll post, so I didn't even click.

Free beer for you since I missed the link.

So what of the MEC now? With the amount of seeming distrust between them and the rank and file.

It's a paper bid... I'm still an E190 guy until I opt to go to training. :)

I think I'll probably stay on the E190 for quite a while. There's no benefit to going to the A320, and I'm happy with the flying. If I go back to the line, then yeah, I'll go to the A320.
You're not on the line? And I so wanted to meet you and @kellwolf now that I've joined the fraternity!

Hehe, awww newsmen, trading your integrity to become Anderson's go to media guy!

Even though the article is fine (and I'm embellishing when I say "trading your integrity") it would be easy for the common man to understand "work harder (longer) than 15 years ago with reduced pay and health and retirement benefits".

But that's none of my bizn'ss
