JC Surfers?

I officially hate you now.(jk) Looks like a beautiful place. Glad you had a wonderful vaca. How did you like the food. Where did you stay? Go ahead, describe it all and make me more envious. lol

The food was great. Quesadillas, burritos, tacos, black beans - yum! The hotel was La Laguna del Cocodrilo, with a pathway to the rivermouth and the beach. Got to surf Tamarindo beach, Pico Grande (which was by far my favorite), and Playa Negra. I want to surf Playa Grande and Avellanas next time.

If you ever make it to Tamarindo, try the Witches Rock Pale Ale - very good beer (and it packs quite a punch)!

Air temp: In the 90s.

Water temp: In the mid 80s, at least.

Stress level: Low.

Happiness level: High.

Awesome! Would love to go check it out!

I'm in Sydney at the moment on a trip, but there's nothing much to surf at all. I brought swim fins with me and went for a good bodysurf yesterday morning, but the beach right in front of the hotel (Coogee) doesn't break right for board surfing. In fact, most of the time it's sheltered from SE swells. Too bad. I'll be venturing out when the swell kicks in again, though starting tomorrow through Thursday they're forecasting a SE swell of 11.5' at 10 seconds... Too rich for my blood!

But, here's a good pic from tonight to make @A Life Aloft even more jealous. ;)

That is just beautiful. Great pic. I have a dear friend who lives in Sydney. He just retired a few months ago from Qantas. Like me, he was a 747 driver. His wife used to come with him on some of his trips here, or they would just take a vaca here and they always stayed with us. They were out here on vaca for a week last September. He bought a cruiser of some sort that they are fixing up so they can putt around and stay on it from time to time. They are coming back out here in a couple of months and we are hoping next year to go there and stay with them. I really like Australia and New Zealand. Only been a few times and not in many years now.

Even at that time of day, look at how white the sand is. Sigh. All I have done is kill myself working the last several years and only had small trips for a long weekend and maybe escaped for a week once a year. That's all going to change though. There are just too many beaches that I haven't seen in so long and some new ones to explore. Enjoy the water, enjoy the views and yeah, I am really jealous. Have a ripper of a time, mate!

Would you mind if I sent my buddy that pic in an email? He'll love it.

Please do!

@fender_jag

Great pics! Beautiful, uncrowded wave, too. Though, it looks like they're going "party wave" on it? :)

They might have gone "party wave" on a few takeoffs, for sure! But the attitude was right, thankfully.

Another great thing about Costa Rica is the coffee. I bought some to bring back home and am really enjoying it.

Found this on craigslist from a local shaper... 6'10 single-fin egg. Man, oh man. I have the fever... And the only prescription is more surfboards!! Please talk me out of it... Or don't. ;)

SUP.

I was out yesterday in a surfline poor day. A few longboarders came out, left quickly. Another sweeper and I were out there for close to 4.5 hours catching wave after wave.

Man, I keep thinking about it... I go back and forth. It'll probably happen eventually.

By the way, I've learned to really enjoy the days Surfline says it's poor... I've been out by myself on chest-shoulder high days that were perfectly rideable, but nobody bothered to check it in person.

Although it seems tempting, I would say hold off. Keep riding your longboard and re-visit the idea after the summer. When we get some decent-sized South in late summer/early fall and you still have the itch, then consider making the move. But a longboard is a great summer board, especially for those calm, quiet, dawn patrol sessions.

Of course that is just my opinion! ;)

I know! The best are the random set waves when you are in the perfect position to go and everyone else is paddling back.

Thanks man, I will hold off. I'm going to simply upgrade the size of the single fin on my longboard. I just have ADD when it comes to stuff like this, apparently. ;)

SQUIRREL!

P.S.: I can't seem to get myself up early enough for dawn patrol. Dusk patrol is more my style. ;)
