The Emirates Strike Back

There is a big difference between generating revenue on an airplane with 100+ seats than there is from 50-76.

Simple math.
I'm not in any way defending M3. I was responding to your statement about regionals in this country. Nor should any one "blame" the major for their salary. People take the job and know the pay scales. However the majors are most certainly making money of the backs of their contact labor. The same way any American company who takes their manufacturing overseas. The regionals are the Nike sweatshop in Vietnam, the regional "partners" just happen to exist in the same country as the company doing the outsourcing.

They most certainly are, two fold, with simple math. Not only do they make money on the flight that brings people to the hub, they fly them somewhere once they get there on their metal. They aren't supporting regional airlines out of the kindness of their hearts.

Every company makes money off of the backs of its employees. That's what employees are for. You generate more value than you're paid, otherwise you're of no use to the employer.

I used to work at a place whose owner was the focus of the majority of employees disatisfaction.
It always seemed silly to me that these people, that were making a good living, would think they were somehow deserving more. My response was always "He didn't start this company to make friends.".

Oh sweet, so regional peeps should be paid the same as mainline peeps? They are both generating revenue for thier parent company, right? It's weird how the music changes when one gets a major job. I forgot, it's being "adjusted at the regional level". Riiiiight.

UA, DL, AA and US making money off the backs of regional pilots is probably the most honest thing I've read on here. Hardly "disingenuous".

Keep in mind that if we allow SOCs unfettered access to the US market, by the way it was explained to me, the very first causalities will be the US regionals. and freight.

I fully agree with this. I was responding to what seggy said about US mainline pay and regional pay. Not defending Middle East carriers in any way. I'm all for not alowing them in the U.S.

Okie doke. Well, this is pretty much a clear and present danger to all of us if we address it poorly. Smaller sectarian wars, while important, are kind of beside the point.

I don't know, sounded clearer in my head before I typed it!

Am I being too modest? Should I say, "YOU SHALL ADHERE TO MY WORLDVIEW OR I SHALL HURL YOU INTO THE ANAL GLAND OF FETID HELLFIRE IF YOU QUESTION ME!" ? :)

Kind of sounds like what I said... but without the mass pants wetting from the gallery/staff, etc.

Maybe people overlooked what I was trying to impart in that post because I invoked fossil fuels? Because global warming. Or climate change. Whichever.

I think it might have had something to do with your comparing people to inanimate material.
