anybody here work for skywest!? is the atmosphere good/mediocre..is it a nice place(co workers friendly..would u recommend it)..appreciate the insight on anything!..thanks!..

You don't have to go all the way to Vegas - Mesquite is right across the border about 45 minutes away. Actually I'd be seriously tempted to live in Mesquite if I worked for Skywest although it would be kind of a long commute.

Las Vegas is a 3 hour drive. Get your booze there, bring it back.

Mr. Lee's beer and liquor is right across the border in Mesquite, not quite 45 minutes away. Fantastic selection...yet transporting alcohol into UT is against the law....so of course I would never do it...

Skywest was great to work for! The people there are awesome although there are always a few but everyone all got along very well. Buffalo Wild Wings and the Bowling Alley are the two best place to go and drink in town. Outdoors stuff like camping, hiking and Mtn Biking to name a few are everywhere. Weather is sunny and nice almost always, although the summer gets insane hot (still 100 degrees at midnight sometimes) The training is also top notch! I am at a major now and in a class with people from all sorts of different regionals and other carriers and it seems the few of us from Skywest have at least heard of or used most of the things brought up to the class where others are completely new to things. Also they have the best flight benefits of any airline. You get Delta, United, American, USAir and Alaska, so tons of options to get where you are going. Enjoyed my time there tremendously and they really set me up to help get me where I am at today. Also Vegas is 1.5-2hrs for nonreving, flights out of SGU take you up to SLC and CDC is also a nice option to nonrev into SLC, its about a 45min drive away from Saint George.

i'd recommend it highly and echo the sentiments of previous posters regarding its positive qualities. and if you ever need a pick-me-up after work all you have to do is walk outside and see mountains in every direction.....sure beats walking out of work and seeing cleveland

What's wrong with Cleveland?

I heard that class you're in now is pretty smart

I have not ever worked at Skywest. However, I did used to live in Vegas, and while there I visited SGU to see some former co-workers from another regional I had been employed by who now worked there - so I have seen the office, seen the town, and driven through the area more than once. I love the climate (other than the summers being wickedly hot, although I was already used to that in Vegas)...but the political climate is a different story. It probably would have bummed me out after a while if I lived there. I prefer a more open minded area where a multitude of views around, which is probably why I do well in larger towns/cities. I have had some people I knew that absolutely love it there (and are still there today) and others who hated it with a passion. The office is nice, training seemed good, and pay is decent for a regional - but for me, it would be a place to get experience and GTFO to a major. (Still, I'd enjoy all the scenery/outdoor activities in the area while I lived there.) If you do get an offer with them and decide you love it there and want to put down some roots, the company should be around for a long time (not that anything is certain in aviation.) I do think you'd be happiest there as a member of the LDS church, which I am not.

Honestly SkyWest is a great company with a great culture. The work is fun and enjoyable, the training is top notch, the people are great, and the town is cheap to live in.

I'm my opinion anyone looking for a dispatch job would be fortunate to end up here.

I got an invite to do a "1 way video interview" for Skywest. Has anyone done this before? Just wondering if this is general questions like "what are your worst qualities?" or actual regulation/weather etc. questions?

Got one Friday evening. Checked my email while at work and it showed up around 6pm.

You get 5 questions and a chance to answer them in 1 minute via video. A 'get to know you' one way interview. Why do you want to be a dispatcher ? Why Skywest. ?

I suggest a quiet and clean room, put on a shirt and tie and be yourself.

I did mine last night and treated it like a face to face. Most importantly .....be yourself.

I've never done it before last night, but you can do it.
