ERJ-145 vs. CRJ-200

Hey guys,

I currently have offers at AWAC and TSA. Deciding between which company to go to this summer... Leaning to TSA due to the growth, new contract, upgrades and high potential of an IAD base out of training (I live in Northern Virginia).

Was wondering if anyone on here has flown both the ERJ-145 and the CRJ-200. What are the pros and cons to each airframe? Who likes what better and why?

***** I am not basing any part of my decision of which airline I select on the airframe the airline flies, just curious to see what people think of each airframe in comparison to each other.*****

Have a good one!

What's better, MOPAR or Ford? Cessna or Piper?

It's funny to hear pilots complain about them. It could be a Jet Scream, 1900 or a Bandeirante.

All things considered, I've enjoyed my time on the 145. It's easy to learn and easy to fly. Overall it's a good plane to have as your first jet.

Working at any TSH company is like asking the other guy to go first when you're playing a game of roshambo.

Working at AWAC is like asking to be an unemployed first officer soon.

I'm not sure either provide desirable outcomes, but the 145 was a nice plane to fly.

You might as well fly the superior airliner.

AWAC is in a very vulnerable position until they can sign a larger aircraft agreement or extended their current one well into the future (which is unlikely).

FWIW, regardless of what Cartman says, "Roshabeau" is actually an old name for "rock-paper-scissors".

As much bashing as the E-145 receives, I liked that airplane. In roughly 7000 hours of flying the thing, an engine failed once, no other significant mechanical problems. It handled like a porsche compared the boeing I'm on now (which flies like a .......rocket powered john deere tractor?), and the automation was good enough to be helpful when it needed to be, but not so all encompassing that it completely shuts you out (which is what I often feel like the aircraft in my avatar does). Don't get me wrong, the Boeing is great, reliable, easy, and maybe it's nostalgia, but flying the 145 I felt more like a pilot than a button masher (and I know 1900/120/saab drivers will laught at me for saying that).

Never flew the CRJ so I can't compare. All that said, isn't AWAC a much better company than TSA?

With a similar amount of time I'd agree with this sentiment. Good plane overall. Never left me high and dry. Wish it was quieter and had a better radar.

I miss the dead simple simplicity of the 145. You could point it somewhere and it'd show up stabilized and on speed almost no matter what you did.
