FAA Airmen Registry - No Medical?

Hello. I am currently waiting on the FAA for a decision regarding my third class medical. Basically, I'm taking a medication that might affect my vision (pretty much just floaters), and they wanted me to get a full examination by an ophthalmologist to ensure my eyes are OK. I had the examination and everything came back perfect, and the paperwork was subsequently sent to Oklahoma. A few weeks later, I got a letter from them asking me to go back to the ophthalmologist, and get a letter from him stating that this medication is not affecting my eyes, so I did just that. It's been almost two months since I first sent the information they requested (they give you 60 days). Last week, I called Oklahoma and the guy said he would "flag" my case (not sure if that has a positive or negative effect), and that I'd be getting a decision in the mail, although he never specified even an estimated time frame for that.

About two weeks ago when I checked the FAA Airmen Database, I saw that it still had my expired medical listed on there, but when I checked yesterday, it said something like "no medical information". Is that a sign that they denied it?

Just a follow-up, in case anyone is as paranoid as me about the status of their medical on the FAA airmen database, it doesn't mean anything. I gave them a call and they told me they haven't made a decision yet.

A few weeks plus a couple of months plus a couple of weeks...and the Feds wonder why airline/corporate pilots refuse to get checked out for anything. That is asinine that it takes you that long to get your medical back. Good luck!

At least they have a waiver process (Special Issuance). When I started as an AME, you lost your medical for taking any medication.

My AME was harassing me in a friendly way about how we don't tell them anything. Yeah, exactly. That's how the system is set up. I'm a perfectly healthy 42 year old and if I ever did have any problems, the last person I'd ever discuss it with is my AME. Sorry if that hurts, but that's life.

Yep, it's almost like you need a lawyer present so you don't dig yourself into a hole.
