Envoy To Close NYC (Official)

So I saw Envoy online a few weeks ago and really liked their pitching they made for pilots. Saw they were hiring with a singing bonus also.....

Does this mean I should probably stay clear of Envoy? Granted it'll be about 1.5 yrs till I apply so a lot can change but this doesn't look good for recruiting pilots...

That is if they'll even be hiring anymore? Ha
Push regionals out of your brain for now and just enjoy flying.

Odd. Hardly anybody turned off the hot mic when I was at Pinnacle. Unless you've got the mic in your mouth, you shouldn't be picking up breathing. I always took the headset off above 180, anyway.

I was instructed to turn the hot mic off when done talking on my jumpseat IOE, before I even hit the right seat. Definitely a 'culture' thing at LASA.

Seems like envoys flow will be reduced to 5-6 years for 2015 new hires. I think Envoy will be around. Paying dues as an FO with crappy for for 5-6yrs sound alright with that quick flow to AA

No FO should count on any flow. Flows are a carrot to get senior guys to vote the way the company wants them to. As the Envoy guys who have been there 15 years that were supposed to flow in 3 years. Hopefully with the way retirements are going to pick up over the next 5 years we should all have our shot at mainline or at least an llc. Barring any hiccups of course (which you should plan for anyway because something always does/will happen).

Not just senior guys, junior guys as well. It encourages that attitude that pay, benefits and work rules at a regional don't matter as it is only a stepping stone. The statement appears on this board on a daily basis- yeah, I'm going to a regional with a crappy contract, but they have a quick upgrade and a flow through. Work rules don't matter since I will only be there for a few years.
Being an airline pilot is being an airline pilot. I fly to challenging airports throughout the US, Canada and Mexico. I've flown in Africa, Middle East, Central/South America, Asia- so I've done all that before flying a "barbie jet". Listen on a regular basis how I am not a real pilot, even here.
I remember an FO telling me once how he hated being a student pilot; hated being a CFI; hated flying 135; hated being a regional FO. But man, when he got his double breasted suit it would all be worth it. I had to break his bubble and inform him that while he might get more pay with that double breasted jacket it would be the same job. If he was miserable now he would be miserable then.
It is what it is and I've given up tilting at windmills to try and change it. I'm not Envoy, but I'll fight for a good contract and do my best to help my airline perform better. I'll probably retire where I am or watch the ship go under.

Good for the Envoy new hires, but look at the comparable time for new hire FOs at PSA (he current golden child) to just get an interview (no flow) with AA...

The Hot New Regional Of The Week!
PSA is golden if you want a quick upgrade to make capt $$. I'm not sure if it's true or not but I heard PSA pilots are not allowed to go to AA while being employed by PSA. If that's true, I'd rather go to envoy. Yes shouldn't rely on the flow but given the current regional mess, I'd choose a path leads to stay in regional for as little as possible.

Not trying to start another bs here but that's what I heard about PSA pilots not being able to go to AA. if someone can verify, I'd appreciate it

Or get enough time at regional and do a step down approach
Instead of expecting straight to AA, level off at sprit JetBlue etc before AA

This is true. A current new hire at PSA will flow in 8+ years based flows being increased from 4 a month to 12 and 1200 pilots when hired. Granted not everyone ahead will wait for AA so it might be a little shorter. Still, for someone set on going to AA that's new to 121, Envoy and Piedmont are better deals

I wasn't aware that PSA has a flow? I thought it was guaranteed interview after like 10yrs??

If you truly want to go to AA, as your #1, I would go to Envoy, PSA, or PDT. Why? The vast, VAST majority of new hires are and will be flows from those three carriers. The rest of the new hires are prior military. The amount of new hires hired off the street that are former commuter 121 with no mil background is staggeringly low. The only people I know who work at AA now were hired prior to hiring being done in Dallas under the one brand. I knew 11 guys hired in the ~12 months leading up to me getting hired, and another half dozen afterwards, and have known ZERO who have even gotten a call to interview once they went to hiring solely via AA.

To put it in perspective, I applied to AA on Oct 2 2013 and have yet to get a call, yet I hold a line on the Airbus on the US side after being hired to it last year.

Not saying it won't happen, but the chances are pretty slim.
