Another "old" new ATP

After a whirl-wind two and a half month process, yesterday I passed my ATP ILOE ride with CL-65 type rating, along with RVSM and Cat II qualifications....just one week before my 58th birthday! Who says you can't teach an old lawyer new tricks?! What a wild fun ride it has been. My 700/900 "Differences" training happens the end of the month. IOE should kick off in June. Crazy times in the airline world, but I'm not complaining.

It's nice to see that although slow, and dangerous behind the wheel, old people can still serve a purpose!

Congrats! With the decline of my mental acuity I will have to have someone mopping up my drool when I reach your age.

You might surprise yourself. Life experience is a wonderful thing! I think I was able to help some of my 20-something classmates with a lot of real-world experience, and they, in turn, kept me energized and moving forward. It was a great symbiotic relationship. My ground school roommate and ultimate sim partner was a young, extremely bright 26 yo CFI. We formed the perfect pair and helped each other through the entire process, while forming what will likely be a life-long friendship, despite him being just a few years older than my son.

Teamwork is what is needed to get through the first 121 type rating!

Congrats again, I do miss the airline world sometimes.

Excellent! Congrats. I'm assuming KV is behind you and you're into LOFT about now. The first LOFT was overwhelming, but the second one proved much easier. The ILOE turned out to be one of the easiest checkrides I've ever had, despite my concern over same. Good luck!
