How long to expect to wait after getting for license before landing your first job?

These jobs are the airports. Sometimes they list with the airport. Sometimes they list with the city, county, etc. It just depend on how the airport authority is organized.

It may have changed since, but years ago I worked as a ramp controller in the Delta ramp tower at CVG. I was a Comair employee working traffic on our side of ramp and Delta guys worked their side. They were pretty senior employees too.

It depends on the airport. In Las Vegas, the ramp controllers are county employees. In some places, the airlines control the ramp.

Here in ATL, Delta has hires ramp controllers. From the research I have done, they only hire from within for this (for the most part) and as jrdownunder stated, they are usually senior employees. When I looked at this as a possibility everyone's advice was to get on ready reserve slamming bags. Because I made almost double what Delta pays for this fueling and towing for the FBO at the airport near where I live, and I need full time not 20 hours a week, it just wasn't something I could do at the time. I still think working as a ramp controller would be pretty fun. But after I learned about the aircraft dispatch position (up until this past October I didn't even know that existed or what it was), I definitely am shooting for that.
