Hilarious Reddit Review of the Q400 (NSFW)

Brasilia? With an autopilot, a cockpit door, and a flight attendant to bring you a beverage over ice? And you want to compare that to a Jetstream, a 1900, or a Metro holding 19 people, a curtain, no autopilot, no FA, very little air conditioning (except maybe for the 1900), and 6-10 legs per day?

Yep. You win. You were able to identify a propeller. ;-)

Nope, A/C sucked on the 19hondo...

You also forgot to mention that the Brasilia had an APU.

Pfffft. Until you guys do 11 legs and 8 hours of hard fly a day, 110+ hours a month, in weather that'd make a polar bear freeze, and have to share the hotel room with the guy you're flying with, you're nothing but bunch of slacked jawed wussies.

You need to get some game to even think about stepping on my lawn.

ROC, SYR, ALB, LEB, PQI, BHB, RKD, and AUG were pretty damn cold. Also, no hotel. Try a crash pad with 8 of your favorite coworkers...

I used to do 20+ legs a day hauling 5000 pounds of mail and freight. The day was load, fly, unload, and fly back. Doing that multiple times a day was work. My back was about dead.

Jetstream 31, Sunday: JST-PIT-AOO-PIT-JST-PIT-JST-PIT-AOO-PIT-JST then go back to the ghetto row house with no AC and orange fungus on the walls that we all shared. Stopped at Sheetz on the way "home" for a hotdog combo ($1.99) then went to sleep on the air mattress next to the Captain who had been riding me all day long.

Eh, you might be OK, but understand you were in/near cushy civilization. But try FAR, HON, GFK, MHE, BKX, MOT, plus a couple more north of the border like Saskatoon. The only thing between them and the North Pole was a barbed wire fence.

Gave new meaning to the phrase "shrinkage". Pftttt....more like "fully retractable gear".

You can step on the lawn. Gently.

This thread really makes me appreciate the ATR. The only negative thing I remember is how hot it was. Other than that, it never played games with you. It wasn't the prettiest, nor was it the best performing, but it was a truck that could haul anything and once you got used to it, real easy to fly and land. Plus, having the cargo area separate you from the passengers and flight attendants was amazing.
