Congratulations volume IV

Congrats! Welcome to Minnesnowta (at least no more of it now!)

Hey, thanks man! I'm thinking about getting a cheap apartment (if there is such a thing) while I'm out there (splitting it with a friend that's also upgrading)... Not sure how long I'll be on reserve and I'm pretty much over the whole crashpad thing. Any ideas on where to stay? Any areas to avoid? I will also be bringing my 2nd car with me, so I'll have transportation. I'm also an avid road biker, and will be bringing my spare road bike (I hear you guys have some pretty decent bike paths).

If you're fine with a 30min commute, I'd recommend south of MSP, but I don't know much about north of the cities.. Lakeville/Apple Valley are decent places to live. You'll find that anything outside of the 25min commute to KMSP is suburban (besides STP). I'd avoid living in an area that has to use I-94 to get anywhere this year. It'll be single lane east of MSP this year. Check MNDoT for road construction updates.

As far as road biking, anywhere on the Mississippi River has trails. If you travel up to Taylor's Falls (Osceola, WI), there's great trails up there as well. I'm sure you're in contact with a biking forum, and I suggest asking there. I'm little to no help at bike trails :P

Generally, Minnesota has two seasons. Winter and Construction season. Make sure to update your GPS frequently. Like I said before, check MNDoT for road construction updates.

If you have any other questions i.e. places to check out, shortcuts, ect. let me know via PM.

The Lake of the Isles/Lake Calhoun/Lake Harriet/Lake Nakomis chain of lakes has really good separated one way biking and walking paths. This is a somewhat congested area so if you're not into that sort of thing you might not like it. But, for young active people, it's the place to be in my opinion.
