FLiCA/CrewTrac On Mobile Device

I know H.T.M.L. (How To Meet Ladies)
Yesterday I was flying with a captain who showed me a new app called Hunite (www.hunite.com) that interfaces with FLiCA and pulls your schedule in and has some social type features. It looked kinda slick and he told me it auto updates your schedule periodically.

I tinkered with it a bit and decided I don't really care for the interface all that much and I definitely don't want the social features. It seems like it has a lot of extras that I have no desire for. However, it did get me thinking I might need to revise my system now that I'm on reserve rather than a lineholder and my schedule is constantly changing. What I've been doing as a line holder is simply downloading my schedule in .ics format and uploading it to Google Calendar which also syncs with my iOS devices. It only takes a couple min each month but it is a manual process and doesn't really work with reserve when your schedule changes upwards of 25-30x a month.

Anyway, I was wondering if people would be willing to share their methods of keeping track of their schedule on mobile devices. Do you use an app? Do you pay for FLiCA mobile services? What do you like about your setup? What features do you wish existed? Do you have anyway of finding out schedule changes in near real time (key for reservists)?

I use FC View. No issues with it so far, and from what I hear the biggest issue with it is that it is not available for iPhone/iPads yet. Otherwise it's a fantastic app.

You should check out the Flight Crew View app that was created by a Shuttle America FO. It makes the FLICA app on iPhone look pathetic. I know most iPhone people have been begging him to create an app for them. It keeps track of 117, has links to KCM and flight status, provides weather at your overnights and provides hotel information such as local attractions with a one click link to call the hotel.

Also going to jump on the FC View bandwagon. Very solid app. Some people seem to want to complain about the subscription, but that seems pretty petty to me. It's like 2 bucks a month, or something like that, and totally worth it.

One of many regrets I have of switching from Android to iphone is losing fc view....it was an amazing app and seriously blows the iPhone flica app out of the water.

I think people overall are inclined to complain about paying money but the truth is he probably has to host some sort of backend infrastructure to update the schedule. Its possible it's done locally on the phone but that opens up another can of worms. Not to mention it probably took him quite a bit of time to get the app together. Either way why shouldn't he get money for keeping up with changes to FLiCA and Android?

Does anyone know if FC View periodically refreshes in the background?

Maybe I'm the only person still on reserve but to me a killer feature would be immediate notification of pending schedule changes. Scheduling will often make changes to our schedule but then wait until about 2 hours to call us about it since we have a 1:45 deadline. It would be really nice to know as soon as the changes are made because a lot of time they're made 6+ hours in advance.

His website says he's working on iOS version so maybe I just have to wait.

Has anyone ever used the paid FLiCA services?

Sounds like you have a good reserve project to work on mr computer nerd.

I bought the annual expense report this year when I did my taxes. Worth the $50.

I'd worked it out myself as a sanity check and was pretty close on the totals but next year I'll just buy the report and call it good.

I have FLiCA mobile but we don't pay for that. It's free.

I just don't get why FLICA charges more for that stuff. Sabre has to already be getting a huge chunk of change from the airline for the software so why leave out such a simple feature? Everyone has mobile phones now so just add the price to the package and sell it all as one.

I dream of a day when legacies take their billions and actually make up to date flight ops software that users don't mind using.

A prime example of what not to do would be a certain regional carrier. The brand new employee intranet REQUIRES IE9 or earlier to use it. I don't mean like if you use Safari or Chrome it looks funny either. It literally won't work at all on those browsers. Why?!
User agent switcher.

Apparently I'm on the radar.

Anyway... user agent isn't it. They used old javascript that doesn't like the new browsers. Thanks for trying though!
