Southwest Exam

Interviewed in the morning, got the nod in the afternoon! Took me 6 months to get my first dispatch job but 10 months with the regionals and I am now with the big boys! so stoked it's unreal to me at this point....
Did you have 135 dispatch experience as well?

Nope, only experience was at a part 121 regional. I think a Bachelors Degree in Flight Ops as well as a Commercial Pilot's license didn't hurt either

I'm sure it all helped - but I think what benefited you the most was the fact that majors are all hiring like crazy right now! This is not intended to slight your experience in any way, I just envy you for getting into the field when it's on a big hiring boom. I suffered through the post-9/11 doldrums so it took me a lot longer to make it to a major. It's a good time to be dispatching. Good luck at Southwest!

No kidding. Just hoping to get a call from a regional at this point.....

I know it's a right place right time thing for me. After I started at a regional last summer I wasn't applying to anyone else because I thought I had no chance and needed 2-3 years experience. Once my co workers with around 1 year experience started getting the calls I jumped in because I realized its a very unique time and had no idea how long it would last. I am very fortunate to have gotten this job and take nothing for granted. I know I have to keep up the hard work and by no means can I relax now, but my future is no longer up in the air. Thank you for the well wishes

Thanks guys. I know their interviewing people who tested the day before our Thrusday groups, so we should hopefully start getting calls soon. Hang in there!
