Hey guys I am new here, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. I am a few weeks away from my practical and I am looking at one of the regional airlines close to where I am at. However, my goal is to make it as a DX at Delta one day. Reading through this thread, it sounds like that may be increasingly more difficult if I am not already an employee for Delta. I am wondering if it is a bad move to try and get on at a regional airline such as express jet or one of the others to earn several years of experience and try to move into Delta one day? Some people above have said they mainly hire internally. My fear is that I will get stuck at a regional, and while the job may be fun and interesting, I won't make the kind of money I was hoping to make. Do any of the other major airlines hire more of a mix or do they all prefer internal hires as well? Any suggestions of things I can do to increase my chances of getting into Delta after gaining some DX experience at a regional? I am sure it will take a good 5-7 years, but I will do what it takes. Thanks for any info or advice!
