Joining the Pink Mustache Crew

I have seriously been kicking around the idea of trying this now that I'm on a morning line, and have all day/night to do nothing. From a drivers perspective, what's the better deal: Lyft or Uber?

I'd guess Uber is more established in most cities at this point?

Lyft is awesome. Been driving on the side for 8 months now and have had a great experience. Been averaging $1300 extra a month (OC area) just working weekends. Very easy money if you are in the right place. Sad that we are moving to a part of Michigan that doesn't have the service.

I hear some drivers do both

If Uber can manage to get into the Vegas market without getting their asses kicked and threatened by the mob, Id consider driving part time just to get out of the house every now and then.

"You want take freeway from airport to UNLV Arena?"

I joined Uber but have yet to use it. I had several bad experiences with Yellow Cab in Seattle but found another company which has worked out better. I really like the concept of Uber and Lyft and, based on my experiences with cab drivers and sky high rates over the years, have little sympathy for the taxi companies. I have no interest in driving but I think a guy could make some good coin in Chelan, WA in the summer. Resort town with wineries all over the place and nearest airline service an hour drive away.

This.

I can't stand cab drivers. $12 fare : "NO CHANGE FOR TWENTY!" Sure, I'll be right back.. Oh, now you have change.

Las Vegas cabbies are the worst, most vile. But there are some good ones.

yeah screw 'em. This is just another case of consumers saying hell no to current paradigms.

Good lord!

I signed up to be an Uber Driver in my city, but it's not yet legal though. The insurance part concerns me. It's a $1000 deductible if something happens while you are "on duty."

The concept is awesome though. No more having to find phone numbers to speak to a dispatcher who sounds like he's about to die of lung cancer just to tell you it's going to be 30 minutes.

However the last two times I've used Lyft and Uber I had to tell the driver how to get to the airport. They'll just blindly follow that pink line on their GPS/phone. So in this case I understand concerns of drivers not having a chauffeur's license or any type of training.

As opposed to the taxi driver taking the long way to run up his bill?
