BP question....

Hi Doc, during my last two physicals, my BP was on the high side. I only came in a few points under. I exercise at least three times a week. I eat well, but BP has still been rising over the past few years. I am 60. What are my options, and could you point me in a direction of help.

Thanks......

I thought I was eating well. Low fat this and that. Then saw how much sodium is in low fat salad dressing, for example. Started worrying less about fat and more about sodium content in stuff. It lowered my numbers about 10/5 points. YMMV.

Check your blood pressure on 3 separate ocasions and average the numbers. If the values are greater than 140 on the top or 90 on the bottom, see your doctor for evaluation and treatment. Hypertension is a CACI and the AME can issue without involving OKC :)

I was in the exact some situation and while it's not for everybody, vegetable juicing worked for me.... lowered my numbers by almost 20 points. I wanted to try something before getting on my first medication. PM if you want more specifics

I assume it would need to be through an AME and not my primary Doc....Thank you for the quick response.

Yeah I do watch the sodium, but probably should be better about it....
