C172 aerial mapping (northern states)

Agreed. One of our guys barely flew there for a month and change, while I've been averaging around 100hr/month so far this season.

@gtlyon if you have a choice, pick an N5 rig. C6 are limited to one type of flight plan and you simply will not fly as much.

@6StringWingNut I'd say yes, but I pack pretty light. Just a backpack and one roller, so I'd have room behind both seats for miscellaneous junk

Been down in Florida since mid January and nearly flew 100hrs the first month and that was with a week of weather, so really it was almost 100hrs in 3 weeks. We are in central Florida now, but it has for the most part turned on us, but it looks like we will have a small window this week.

Don't mind the sitting since we are salary so it's not like some companies where you do not fly, you do not get paid, but would much rather be flying right now.

That's around my neck of the woods here in the Space Coast . . . seems like it hasn't been that cloudy for a few days now. We just had an air show in Titusville featuring the T-Birds and we're having another one this weekend in Melbourne featuring the Blue Angels . . . hope all those TFRs don't mess with ya'll missions as well. Anyways, you are always welcome to stop by our flying club lounge at the Valkaria airport!

Florida ended up being the best/worst case scenario. Best weather for life, worst for grids. Ended up squeezing maybe one hour in the early morning and then clouds all day.

Which ones don't pay you when you don't fly?

I had this happen to me for a week waiting on C5 work until they finally pulled the plug.

Thanks for the info guys, I applied to all of them. Ha.

What are the interviews like? Are they in person/on the phone or both? Laid back and trying to get to know you/aviation background? Is it technical?

NSA has a timed quiz that has W&B and IFR questions on it. They email to you and you reply within an hour with the answers. Then you get a phone interview about your flying experience and personality, and eventually an offer letter by email.
There should be an opening popping up at NSA soon, not sure if the boss will get someone to fill in temporarily.

Thanks! This really helps.
