INTERNATIONAL JUMPSEATING

I am a gypsy traveler and take full advantage of our flight benefits. Instead of electing to fly on my own carrier, decided to try the "international jumpseating" thing. It only works on American carriers that your airline has an agreement with. Jumpsat on UAL from NRT-DEN. Nobody is allowed to occupy a physical jumpseat but a seat in the back. Regardless you don't need to spend any money on ZEDs and just pay the taxes! Which was around $25. Best part of the deal is since you need to ask the CA for a ride home. Got to check out the 777 flightdeck and got promoted to lovely business class seat! Just wanted to share a perk lots better than buying any ZED and great alternative if your own carrier was full.

Nothing related to JS but I got a look at my carriers B777 Monday night and it's really state of the art. I'll be doing my FAM ride soon in it soon to HKG. I'm really excited to see all the bells and whistles in action.

I do my annual FAMs on the 777 simply because of the 4 business class seats we have. Aside from the lack of entertainment, it's a really nice ride. HKG huh? One of my favorite cities. It's a long flight....especially via BAH.

Sort of related, something that's always confused me, can regional guys jumpseat internationally on AA?

I did once when I was still at a regional, on United. Helps to be in CASS I am sure.

When I was at my regional we couldn't. We weren't even allowed to do our FAM into Canada. As we flew there daily. So it has to be air carrier specific.

I dont know how all the other airlines do it but both Envoy and AA dispatchers can sit in the cockpit on AA/ENY metal internationally for personal travel.

After 7 1/2 hours in a 737 Jumpseat I think I'll stick to a first class seat in the future..
