Gents, the idea is simple: Make your points and argue your position sans personal attacks or ad hominems. If that is too much a burden to bear, then APC is available. Not a difficult choice.

If one is truly unable to control what comes out of their mouth (or across their keyboard), then they're really not in control of anything else in their life. But I don't think that's the case here, I see it as more a disregard on one extreme, to heat of the moment in other extremes. Neither one is good, so when requested to tone that down .......not tone down actual content......then have a little respect for this as a professional, and do so.

Remember, we are all guests here.

The worst part about it is Todd has some good info on here, if he'd just tone down his rhetoric.
and that's what we've been trying to say for years....and it's not the rhetoric so much as the constant insults..
That's why he (ATN) was suspended. I started giving a year expiration for warnings to repeat offenders several years ago, so that a warning would have meaning to someone who could care less. I figured if you couldn't get through one year without insulting members here four times, that you should just have some time off. Heck, ATN only made it about 8 months...I really figured, if he was paying attention to his account, that he would realize this and at least stop until he had a bit of room.

What is the definition of a 'fair minded person'? Is that a metric we go by on here when considering reports? Or are you just trying to say 'I know things you don't know' and if so why does that matter?

Fair minded is general and based on what is seen. The biggest problem is is people reporting personal attacks, then when one goes back and looks, the person with the report is just as guilty, but was just the first one to report it.

Sure, I get that this is a hot topic in this thread, but its nothing to lose one's cool over. No, the opinion of one person or a few and the ascii characters they write about it, right or wrong, is not going to specifically affect one's job. Cetainly not to the effect that someone should lose their cool over. Heck if that were the case, then anyone anti-military, anti-LE, and anti-fire, should cause me serious heartburn here, but it doesn't. It's just their opinion. Doesn't change anything in any big picture.

Regards here, the standards of expected behavior are simple ones. Do they get broken? Sure they do. And that's why some nice reminders exist to steer one back on the reasonable and wide course. The problem comes when those reminders are ignored, blatently or otherwise. There's no personal vendettas here with regards to moderation, people are responsible for their own actions and choices. Notice that it's always the same people that problems happen with, with a ton of others who fly under the radar day to day. It's like complaining that you're being pulled over by the police all the time, when nearly everyone else never seems to have any contact with police. Maybe the problem isn't the police..........

The problem rarely is what is being said by posters here, the problem is how it's being said. If how its being can't even conform to the very liberal boundaries that Doug has set, then there's a problem. It's not a difficult concept to master

I do my best to avoid even coming into contact with you in Vegas, so I have no idea what you're talking about. I don't remember ever having a substantive conversation with you at NJC, certainly not on this subject.

You can dance around your hypocrisy all you want trying to find loopholes for being able to personally attack members while still pretending to be an objective moderator, but the truth is plain to anyone with eyes.

We all spoke at NJC, both at the hotel patio, as well as at the venue itself; ranging from shop to the website, and ultimately to Doug attempting to bury the hatchet between you two over perceptions and realities, especially with regards to any kind of targeted moderation or feelings of vendettas. May not have been substantive a subject at the time or may have been watered down by drinks, but it did occur. And it was thought to have ended positively by all, at least that was the perception. There are no vendettas, and that convo between all should've cleared that up right then and there.

I think you must be thinking of someone else having that conversation, because I had about two drinks at the main event and remember the entire thing very clearly. I did everything I could to avoid Dale. You and I talked at length (although not about this subject), but I did not talk with Dale. He tried to interact, and I avoided him. You should ask @Maximillian_Jenius. He remembers, because he was standing there when Dale was trying to get my attention, and I kept turning away from him.

I can't speak with any certainty about what happened after all of the shots on the patio the night before, but I doubt Dale can either. Everyone had way too many drinks that night.

What the deuce, people?

First, it's my living room and I don't condone the tenor of this thread. If this is how we're going to speak to one another, I'm 43 years old, have run Jetcareers since 1996 and shutting it down will do wonders for my complaints about not having enough free time.

I will do this. I am not screwing around.

AT ALL.

And this is another reminder why I never wanted kids because, at the end of the day I gotta deal with internet drama between adults that can easily be solved by just using some basic respect for one another and being a good internet citizen.

Here's the deal and everyone will abide by this and everyone that disagrees is free to find another free website to poop their diapers.

Think of it like a cockpit in aviation topics. You know exactly what I'm talking about. The FO starts blabbing on and on about politics trying to incite a political discussion, I recuse myself out of it because it's not worth the distraction.

We've had a number of decent threads derailed by people butting heads and this will end immediately.

This is not a negotiation.

I am not writing this in order to solicit suggestions.

This is a command and not the opening to a dialogue

Cut. This. CRAP.

Ah ah ah! Before anyone hits reply… don't. Everyone knows what I want and everyone will honor it or I will be more than happy to purchase anyone a subscription or assist with the signup process at any other aviation forum.
