What do you think?
Why were there cameras all set-up in the first place? Was this staged or did it just happened on a flight that was getting filmed?
But apparently it's not smart enough to select MCT on its own. -eyebrow-I was amazed at how much the plane did for them. Everything from automatic load shedding and dump securing, to displaying checklist items. Pretty cool.

Pretty good demonstration of how the need for flight engineers went away with the new technology, huh?![]()
The other side of it, the need to call MX to find out what would happen if they disconnected an IDG... engineer could have told them that quicker.
I think the Thetan's are leasing every one they can find. Can someone please bring back the DC-8??
Begging your pardon, but I would hope that's a question that a type-rated pilot can (should, and will) answer...The other side of it, the need to call MX to find out what would happen if they disconnected an IDG... engineer could have told them that quicker.
lol if you think some aircraft in the next decade won't have one airborne crewmember and a second working multiple flights simultaneously via telepresence, just like the engineer on the radio.

I wish I could fly in a three-pilot cockpit!
I don't.
In order for that to be allowed, you will need a world wide standard on how to implement this, whose equipment to use, the fail safes, etc. They can't even agree on transition altitudes/levels country to country, I don't think they will be able to implement this infrastructure behind this theory.
For example, will the Chinese/Russians trust a United States airliners to be flying over their country from a 'central command location' if the one guy/gal has an issue up there? The same thing can be said in reverse as well...
You've obviously never flown an E-Jet.Mind blown?
Now, I could see - maybe, if a whole host of technologies line up at once - that happening on domestic flights,
BUT WILL PANTS BE MANDATORY?lol if you think some aircraft in the next decade won't have one airborne crewmember and a second working multiple flights simultaneously via telepresence, just like the engineer on the radio.
