Lou(a)vuuhl. The "a" is nearly silent, but not quite. It's all a bit tricky. Which is why I'd never ever presume to attempt to pronounce "N'awleehns" or whatever. I'd be more circumspect and polite and say something like "Oh, so you're from the murder capital of the US!". Eternal diplomat, me.

I always picture Hobbits in the northeast, but I mostly get angry Italians. Hard to figure.
